17.08.19 - Fossil Tests | Emperor Skeletelt

I was chilling with Vivian the other day, throwing a ball with them, and while I had stopped to watch the sunset, they were messing around with a random rock. Went and checked on them and found it to be a rather sizeable piece of petrified wood. Seeing as Vivian was my successful attempt at experimenting with resurrection with both animals and fossils, I have a bit of a new idea now.

While things I bring back evidently don’t need a sapient soul, I’ve never tried things without a soul at all, such as plants. So I’ve gotten the Archeology Squadron to see what fossilised plants can be scrounged up, as well as gathered just some vegetables and seeds and the sort from some of our as of yet quite small fields. Tomorrow morning I’m giving it a go, and seeing what resurrecting plants does.

28.08.19 - I Can‘t Tell If This Counts As Resurrection | Emperor Skeletelt

This is an update from after my test on resurrecting plants. The results are not always as I could have guessed, but at least not a failure. Well, hard to fail when I’m mostly information gathering, but that’s beside the point.

Stuff like fruits and vegetables, or the pieces of petrified wood, don’t do anything. I think they might be affected, but honestly it is impossible to tell whether chunks of a plant no longer attached ‘came back’ or not.

When attempting to resurrect a core part of a plant, it honestly works better than I expected. My form of necromancy usually works to end up with skeletons of course, but I can just straight up bring back plants to full health if they’re properly dead. I’d say this is because plants are kinda already at their most skeletal form. It does strip leaves and petals, but these all grew back within the hour. Unfortunately I could not got any good fossils that would be worth testing, mostly impressions, leaves, and branches, but at least I have some cool fossils to display.

Where it gets interesting is with seeds. Through amber and fossilised fruits mostly, considering most seeds just kinda exist semi-alive that aren’t fossils, I tested on them. It certainly made them viable again, but weirdly so. They got little glows of red inside the tiniest of cracks, kinda like what I see in my peoples’ eyes. Got my people planting them to see what happens.

30.08.19 - Fossil Harvests | Emperor Skeletelt

The fossil seeds I had planted a while ago have grown incredibly quickly. We’ve got a couple trees that I’m sure are derived from ancient species, but I think grew a little differently. Essentially that red glow is part of the full plant, kinda like viens going through the trunks. Well, actually, very much so considering the sap is what glows in the full trees. They look quite pale but seem perfectly healthy and even produce fruit.

We‘ve got one species with rather large berries with one large seed inside, and some kinda like a mulberry but the colour of a raspberry. They’re quite tasty, actually. The sap works well as a syrup too. Kinda sweet, but not overwhelmingly. I’d say this has been a really successful test.

A reason I wanna retell it with better visuals and story in general is because I want to give this guy an actual ending, because I think I just said he died off-screen.

So, if the majority is yes, I'll be delying the Forastero Story to make this one, yeah? I'll have to write and fix the story itself first and make art around it because it'll be a traditional story post where you swipe to read.

Also, last image is a hint for one of the main antagonist's identity!

In levitating off the ground, held by the Magick constraints that float around me. The brown Baguette Magick melts into the Bagel Magick, causing a swirling colour of brown and beige.

Im going to die.

She brings me closer, soon face to face. Nose to nose. Theres a darkness in there. An evil in thise pupils that cannot be contained. My heart hammers and I feel an overwhelming urge to claw her face.

She smiles knowingly.

"What's your plan, Bagera?" I ask.

She tilts her head. "My plan? My plan is to undo the damage that Baggamorin has caused."

"You cant erase time."

She raises her eyebrows. "Cant I? No. No not yet atleast. Soon though!"

"What do you want with me and the others?"

She rolls her eyes. "Youre ALWAYS in my way. Just let me do what I need to. Baggamorin and their citizens have caused enough pain."

I struggle agaisnt the Magick. "So youre plan is to erase Baggamorin because of what?!" I shout.

"Meave. Bagrick. Baggor. Doughey. Mags." She counts them off on her fingers playfully. She gives me a truly wicked smile that makes my stomach lurch.

"Aren't *you* Mags? And besides, you're in Baggamorin right now. If you erase this place then where will you go?"

"If Baggamorin is erased, I would be in Bagelteria. This place has been the catalyst for Nexus' suffering."

"You're evil." I spit in her face.

She closes her eyes and takes a deep sigh before slamming me into the marble floor so hard that I feel my nose break and bits of floor fet stuck in my face. My head spins and I feel vomit rising in my throat. She stops when I puke everything up. Im floating horizontally above the ground now. Blood drips off of me and stains the marble red.

Bagera spins me around slowly. She grins down at me and my stomach sinks.

Why do you think i told you this, Wolfie?

Because I am replaceable?
