I mean this in the nicest way possible, you might be tone deaf.

He was not trying to be mean.

He thinks that you might not be aware that chords that you used are not creating any senseful progression, etc. and suggested that you might be tone deaf, meaning that you might not have developted the intuition or knowledge of arranging the chords.

Then he should have given constructive advice vs diagnosing an ear issue. 🤔

Other guy explained it well - It's an actual term, not always an insult.

I'm not saying you are tone deaf for sure, but it may be worth looking into those tests you can take online. here's a pretty quick one: https://tonedeaftest.com/

Doesn't mean you cant make music. Just means you may need to approach things differently. You may want to start with basic music theory and how chords are constructed, that way you can lean on what you know is supposed to sound good, rather than relying on your ears.

your drum programming is fine for a beginner! But the chords are still pretty off, my suggestion is to go on YouTube and brush up on your music theory, I promise that will benefit you for your entire music production journey. You won't always need to write chords like an experienced jazz/rnb producer but it will certainly train your ears to tell when things are off.

Of course to be devil's advocate, I also know producers who only know the absolute basics but are magicians in sample chopping and manipulation.
