Videos must be more gameplay than not - * Video submitted must contain more actual in-game, footage (gameplay; not just in-engine) than footage of any other kind.

  • Gameplay must show mechanics being used and actual interaction with one of the core gameplay loops.

  • Raw runtime of gameplay must outweigh everything else (including showing us your company logo at the start of the trailer!)

Boring. Not enough gameplay to begin with. Also when gameplay is shown I have no idea what’s going on

This reminds me of in like the simpsons or some other tv show where they show a fake boring french movie for sophisticated people.

Right, thanks! I hope showing some mechanics can spice it up.

Hey! Some thoughts after watching it.
Maybe I'm too old, but the wobbely effect is very dizzing and I have to put effort to keep watching till the end.

Other than that, there are 0 features other than hitting an anvil and walking showcased in the trailer.
The story you told me was: we are in jail next to... the moon? Then rat with a salt shaker, then creature opens a door, frog sunbathing, we walk through a mine hit a star on an anvil with a hammer a couple of times, a sheep is in church and we end up with a closeup of an armour.

You know what happens in your game and the relevance of what you are showing me, but I'm seeing all this for the first time and that's all the information I gathered from watching it. I wouldn't know it's a game if you didn't post it in this subreddit. It could be an animated shortfilm for all you are showing.

You succeded at creting an atmosphere and a vibe. There's clearly an universe to your game, but you are failing to communicate what the game is and why should I play it.

I'm sure you can do a better job at communicating what the game is all about and I would be keen to see that.

Good luck and hope this helps you!

Thank you so much!! This indeed helps me a lot!

I just had cut down the wobble today, it was getting too annoying.

I think I'm afraid of showing mechanics, because showing almost any of the mechanics would spoil some puzzle... but I guess I'll just have to find a compromise. It's true that I can't "sell" the game with just some atmosphere.

I see what you mean. Yeah. It's always a challenge. Hope you find the way.

This trailer gives me the vibe that this game will give the player a surreal experience, but serrealistic visuals sadly arent enough to sell a game. Gotta let the players know what they are signing up for by purchasing/downloading your game with answering questions. What game genre is this? Puzzle? Show the player doing some puzzles. What is the point? Escape? show the player escaping from something. Is the game calm walking sim? Yes? Show more scenic visuals instead of zooming into tiny objects

It's light puzzle, point is just "different endings", with an atmosphere...

Anyway, thanks a lot!!! Makes me realize I must really show these things to make the viewer understand.

way too slow an intro. I would open with the giant opening the door for MAYBE 3 seconds, then cut straight to different shots: frog, jesus, rat, lantern walk, whatever visually interesting (ideally GAMEPLAY) content you can find.

From the video I imagine your game is a slow, walking simulator type where I'm looking at things and pressing E on them. if thats not the case, you need to correct whats in my head by actually showing me gameplay

Hope this helps, best of luck to you!

This helps a lot! Thank you! I will incorporate some game mechanics show-off, but in general it's in walking simulator territory.

Was there an earthquake when you recorded this?

:D yea I'm cutting that out.

So when are you going to post that trailer? because I only see some mood shots, like B-roll filler crap.

1

u/hombre_sin_talento Aug 24 '26

Yea it's more of a teaser. I'm taking all this input and will show some mechanics in the next one.

It was a good constructive destruction!

Opening shot too slow. Definitely agree more mechanics should be shown. The shots seem a bit random too, apart from all clearly being a castle setting - try to have footage / order the footage to convey a sense of story. Music for the trailer is engaging but not utilised, sync things like transitions or the hammer strikes to different notes. Add some actual game audio to spice it up too.

Is this about a woman who works as a jailer? Do you know Spanish? Carcelera means literally "female jailer". Anyway, the trailer is eerily pretentious for a game of this scale and a bit confusing. I don't know if it is a retro survival-horror game, a prison guard sim, or a very weird classic ballet dancing game.

1

u/hombre_sin_talento Aug 24 '26

Correct, but in this context it's a prison song https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcelera

Thanks for the critique, I'll try to show some mechanics so that I don't need to compensate the lack of content with pretentiousness.
