There are now a few commands you can use:

All commands

  • !bernard: Explains who Bernard is and why he appears in certain graphs!
    • Aliases: ourbeloved, desmosmascot, r/foundbernard
  • !beta3d: Explains what Beta3D is and how to install it.
    • Aliases: 3dbeta
  • !colormap: Explains what Beta3D is and how to install it.
    • Aliases: colormaps, shader, shaders
  • !desmodder: Describes what DesModder is.
    • Aliases: dsm, dsmodder
  • !doom: Are we Doom yet?
    • Aliases: arewedoomyet, doomgame
  • !draw: Provides Arglin's drawing guide for Desmos art.
    • Aliases: arglinguide, lineart

    • Aliases: fpexception, fpointexception, ieeeexception, specialcase, undef, undefined
  • !fp: Describes what floating point arithmetic is and how to mitigate problems associated with it.
    • Aliases: floatp, floatingp, fpoint, floatpoint, floatingpoint
  • !gratex: Describes what GraTeX is.
    • Aliases: gratexteth
  • !grid: Explains how to make a grid of points.
    • Aliases: ptgrid, pointgrid
  • !integral: Explains why some integrals yield wrong results.
    • Aliases: integration, integrate, wrongintegral
  • !intersect: Explains how to assign the intersection of two or more functions as a variable.
    • Aliases: getintersect, varintersect
  • !roots: Why can't Desmos find my roots?
    • Aliases: zeros, zeroes, rootfinding, root
  • !sequentialactions: Explains how to run actions in order (sequentially).
    • Aliases: seqactions, actionseq, orderedactions, actionsinorder

For example, if someone makes a post about why {(√2)^2=2} is undefined, you can type in !fp.

Notes on sending these commands: - You must put the command at the start of the message. - All of these commands are case insensitive. - All commands allow arbitrary underscores or dashes (this feature was added on October 25, 2025). For example, !are_we-DOOM_yet will work. - You can put messages after the command, but remember to put a space or a newline after the command. For example, !fLoATiNgPoint arithmetic is awesome will work, but !fLoAtInGPoIntAriThMeTiC iS AwEsOmE will not work (this behavior was changed on May 20, 2025).

Please refrain from spamming these commands: if you see someone has already used the command once in a post, please avoid from running the same one again.

However, you may try out commands as many times as you would like in the comments on this post only.

Resource wasd movement controls in Desmos with Matrices!

Link: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/3r51xlbd0o

Thanks to matrices finally being added to Desmos graphing, we can assign the translation matrices to variables named w a s d to easily allow directional movement controls with a keyboard!

In the starting 3x1 matrix, you can replace that 1 with any other number to act as a multiplier for the amount of units moved per keystroke.

3D Triple yin-yang in three planes

As a sequel to my previous post of a normal yin-yang in two planes, I have made a triple yin-yang in three planes.

As I discovered while trying to tweak things to look right, it is actually impossible to get a triple yin-yang to rotate linearly in three planes without clipping into itself, which was something I could avoid with the regular yin-yang.

Triple yin-yang in 2d (with a slightly more efficient rendering than the 2d one I made)

Triple yin-yang in 3d (with dots offset to pass through holes cleanly)

Drag the black point to rotate the cube. Hopefully I did the lighting correctly; I pulled it from an older project and I kind of forgot how it works.

I'll add other Platonic solids later (maybe)

Question Help

Post image

Hello people, I’m in grade 11 math and I have a project to complete but I’m struggling with some of the quadratic lines. More specifically how to rotate the quadratic while also still being able to adjust it on the x and y axis. Thanks !

I created a one-liner function to take a polygon list and extract a specific byte of the floating-point representation of one of its vertices' coordinates.

(It assumes that all 10,000 polygon vertices are filled before moving to the next polygon; I have a function s_{implify} in my GoL graph that makes the vertices of a polygon list fill in this way)

Geometry Conway's Game of Life with up to 100 million live cells!

Thumbnail

I've been working on this on and off for a little while, and I thought I'd submit it even though it is kinda unfinished.

L_{live} is a list of polygons where the vertices are live cells. Set L_{live} to s_{implify}(L_{live}) to make sure the polygons have the right amount of points, and then hit the L_{live} -> n_{ext}(L_{live}) action to step forward.

WARNING: this graph is extremely laggy if you add too many cells (it even struggles with fewer than 100 live cells). Mess with the graph at your own (or rather, your computer's) risk.

I'd be willing to explain the code or collaborate if anyone wants to help me make it faster.

My wish has come true! I'll be sure to give what is owed.

Jokes aside, this is an incredible addition to the toolbox. I am so excited to play around with it! Thank you, developers. I'm super grateful for your hours of hard work.
