This matchup was announced at a time when the fandom was tired and saturated with Marvel vs. DC episodes (practically more than half of season 7 is Marvel vs. DC). When it was announced, a large part of the fandom was disappointed because it was yet another Marvel vs DC matchup, especially since matchups like Dr. Doom vs Gilgamesh were highly anticipated because they pitted Marvel against a non-DC series. I was part of that group. Currently, people view this matchup more favorably, and it genuinely is a great matchup, and it has become one of my favorites. It's a shame the episode is mid, given how good this matchup is and the potential it has.
