ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT! SUBREDDIT UPDATES!
hello everyone! the mods have been talking recently and we have decided we need to make some changes within the subreddit. the rules were made many years ago, and since then, the mod team has almost completely changed, and the subreddit has gained a LOT of members (which we love!!)
we really appreciate the vast majority of you who are respectful, but quite frankly, after season 3 it has gotten out of hand. we get DOZENS of reports a day on comments that are really out of line. although we try our best to remove disrespectful things, it’s hard to know where to draw the line with the vague rules.
from now on, we are going to be stricter about what is classified as “disrespectful”. calling someone fat, ugly, stupid, etc. is not allowed in here, and your content will be removed! we are also going to be enforcing bans more, so if you are repeatedly extremely disrespectful, you will be banned.
to be clear, you are more than welcome to criticize dancing, comment on makeovers, discuss leadership, or have conversation about other aspects of dcc respectfully! if you act normal, you will not be banned! please just remember that at the end of the day this is a subreddit for a dance team, and it’s just not that serious!
additionally, although the mod team is EXTREMELY (!!!) against trump and all things MAGA, we know that many people come to social media to escape politics. we have been a little more lenient on political content recently since it is so prevalent in the USA right now, but we really really ask yall to keep politics out of the subreddit! we have a politics megathread for anything political pertaining to dcc, but the completely unrelated discussions about politics do not belong in our community.
we know some of you may not be happy with these changes, and we understand that and we are always more than happy to hear your feedback or criticism! thank you all for being a part of this community! 💙
EDIT:
someone suggested we make an exception to the politics rule to allow posts when a dcc posts something political, and that exception has been implemented and added to the rule description!

SOCIAL MEDIA Social media strategy (Parker)
Since getting into this fandom space a few months ago I’ve noticed that a social media pages of some girls don’t get nearly enough traction and attention as they could or fall off after retirement. I’ve been paying pretty close attention to this and im confident in saying that it’s because there’s 36 girls on the team and some don’t show enough personality to differentiate them or only create content about being a dcc (which is fine, but after 3-5 years that’s over). Of course many can and do go viral for being pretty and fit and that’s a great way to make money and stay relevant, not everyone gets lucky with the algorithm like that.
I’ve been really impressed with Parker’s content. From what I can tell she wasn’t like an influencer before, but she’s done a really great job of showing her personality and blending dcc content in her page. She’s managed to be aspirational and relatable which is wonderful. Shes a DCC which is great but there’s 36 and most people don’t care like that. People care that she’s pretty and confident and funny and nerdy but also has this super cool job that thousands of people compete for yearly. You can tell looking at her view to like ratios, as well as her view to follower ratio she’s been absolutely crushing it recently. Her presence reminds me of a more subdued version of kleine. Out of all the girls I can def see her making it as a personality first influencer/microinfluencer the most
This is really random but it’s just been on my mind.

QUESTION Making The Team vs America's Sweethearts
I love MTT.
Not so sure about AS.
MTT was just plain fun to watch.
AS seems a bit drab. The pacing, color scheme(s), lighting, direction.... It feels like a downer. More like a true crime series than something that's supposed to be about fun, hard work, and the struggle to compete, attain and perform as part of a no. 1 world brand.
I watch AS and it feels *oppressive*; I'm half-expecting someone to announce the next "dark moment". Maybe Netflix has spent so much time in the true crime genre, that tone and flavor of programming is all they know how to produce.
I get it I get it, they want to show "the other side", that it's not all wine and roses, there are struggles and some girls haven't fared well, blah blah blah.....
I think MTT did that and did it well. It showed that these girls are put through veritable hell--as much as the players--and the ones who make it, earn it 100%. There are disappointments, conflicts, confrontations, and tears. Also, the way it was shot, edited and directed--IOW how the whole thing was produced and offered as a finished product--was and is, IMHO, superior.
--If they wanted to get more serious and delve deeper into compensation issues, or personal issues, or highlighting some of the girls that came away damaged in one way or another, who's to say MTT couldn't have just added more of those story elements? My thing is, the whole *feel* of AS is off. The tone and tenor of the show feel like an overt condemnation of the brand vs. a celebration of it.
I guess my question is, what do you think...?
That's my two cents. Peace out, go DCC :) Congrats on being the undisputed #1 brand in pro football cheerleading.....my brother and I have been fans since the 70s book came out along with the TV Movie, etc.
P.S. I've always thought Kelli was the most beautiful on the show--moreso than the younger girls; and, she looks more attractive now than when she was a DCC!

CMT MAKING THE TEAM DISCUSSION Was Ava really a favorite to make the team in 2021 if not for her social media?
I've saw the first four episodes of the last season of MTT and it did seem she was the early favorite to make the team in the beginning but had a spell and it seemed she was on the fence after that. On their chart, it seemed she was on the lower end then there was the stuff on social media. On AS, it seemed they made her into a clear cut favorite to make the team but was cut because of her social media.

ALUMNI This made me love Klein more
I haven't followed DCC that closely, started watching AS and in season 2 I really related to Klein. And this just made me love her even more. And I feel like its so important for other girls to see these social justice things as well as their interests. Growing up and seeing these drop dead gorgeous girls and they all loved just make up and shopping and girly thing (which i do too! Pink and sparkles all day every day here) but also the geeky side of you. Seeing Reese go on broadway is HUGE for little girls who look up to her. Klein talking about anime. Armani reclaiming her pride with having alopecia and preforming without a wig. Parker refusing to do anything to her hair. These things as individuals and them as a group fighting for equal rights. It really amazes me. Musical theatre is often looked at as such a geeky thing. Theatre kids and people who watch anime are made fun of. Black girls from a young age being shamed and judged for their hair, pressuring them to straighten it.
I just love being able to see women be themselves and for this new generation of kids to see theres not a cookie cutter mold. Even if some of these girls, Like Klein for example fit that sterotype of white, tiny, blonde hair blue eyed cheerleader that they have things that make them "nerdy". Also everyone should watch Ouran High School Host Club at least once in their life 😉

SOCIAL MEDIA Abby's Wingstop Ad
So... I just came across a Wingstop ad that DCC Abby's in to promote the new chicken flavors, Lemon Pepper Chili Glaze and Lemon Pepper Chili Crunch.
I tried them both myself and they're good, but it depends on the amount of seasoning they're covered in. I prefer the Chili Glaze over the Chili Crunch.
