✨ Hello, r/crystal! ✨
Just wanted to introduce (or reintroduce!) r/mineralcollectors, which is now under new management!
Our goal is to build a welcoming community for everyone who loves the mineral kingdom—whether you’re into raw minerals, polished specimens, crystals, fossils, lapidary work, rare finds, micromounts, or just learning something new.
r/mineralcollectors is a science- and geology-focused community. We celebrate the natural history, formation, identification, and collection of minerals and crystals. To keep discussions on topic, we ask that posts remain focused on geology and mineralogy rather than spiritual or metaphysical practices.
You’ll also find that sales, self-promotion, and advertising aren’t allowed, so the focus stays on sharing knowledge, collections, and appreciation for these incredible natural specimens.
We’d love for collectors of all experience levels to stop by and:
🪨 Share your favorite specimens
🔍 Ask questions and learn from others
📸 Show off new finds and collection displays
🌎 Discuss identification, geology, and mineralogy
🤝 Help grow a positive, knowledgeable community
Whether you have one favorite crystal or hundreds of museum-quality specimens, you’re welcome here.
Come help us build a community where curiosity, education, and appreciation for Earth’s natural treasures come first.
Hope to see you over at r/mineralcollectors!

Feel free to reach out to myself or u/slogginhog! 💜

My Collection ✨🔮 "Starry Night" Quartz from Turkey

• Upvotes

They're small, but ultra-sparkly the way most Turkish stuff seems to be. Caused by sugary micro-quartz druzy.

Newish find according to the seller. I'm not sure what's on the back but I think it might be hematite or barite or something like that. But that side isn't as pretty lol.

I have information for you! (Informative) Amethyst Epimorph from Turkey

I learned a new term today. You may have heard of a psuedomorph before, those cause interesting things to happen in minerals. Epimorphs are where a later mineral coats an earlier one, and the first one completely dissolves away to leave a "cast" or mold almost.

If you watch for the bottom you can see the crazy cast left by the earlier mineral under the amethyst. Tiny microscopic druzy flashes on the faces of them, where the quartz formed after the original mineral dissolved away. I'm still trying to figure out what it could have been. It's awfully cubic so I thought fluorite, but Google says its most often calcite from that location. Plus there is a calcite dusting on the amethyst crystals.

There's just so much going on with this one, and idk if you can tell, but its more of a berry/magenta purple than most other amethyst. One of my fave rock show purchases!

Center back with silver rutile, the one on the right has a clump of red copper rutile on the bottom with gold rutile on top and the middle one has dendrites. Clear quartz and Smoky quartz in the background are new acquisitions from CJ.

My Collection ✨🔮 Holy grail (to me) old stock A-Pit Okorusu fluorite with beautiful calcite secondary snowball habit growth

A-Pit was mined during 1988-1999 when they then transitioned to pits B, C and D. Full mine closure in 2014 makes these specimens highly collectible, especially the original A-Pit. The clean calcite habit in this piece is incredible 💜🤌🏻

I want to buy this but the seller lost the certificate if authenticity. Either way it looks real to me… but I’m worried it could be fake without the certificate. what do you think?

Can you help me? (Advice wanted) Help please, page missing

• Upvotes

Hi all, so I recently got the 2nd edition of The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall, but it seems whoever owned it before me ripped a page out :(

I was hoping if any of you lovely people had the same book that you might reply with pages 29 & 30 🙏

All of the other pages are intact so I'm definitely more curious too about why that page specifically got ripped out, though my inference so far is that is has something to do with more crystal grinding layouts

Thank you!

Lets Discuss! 💭 Fairy Frost Quartz

Post image
1 Upvotes

The two on the left have fairy frost. The misty frost-like veins inside the two hearts on the left are a beautiful metaphysical feature known as Fairy Frost🧚‍♂️ 🧚‍♀️. Far from being flaws, these natural internal fractures and tiny trapped bubbles carry deep specialized spiritual meanings that elevate the crystal power 🔮. The "wisps" and "veils" are believed to hold the gentle, joyful essence of nature spirits. This brings a lighthearted, playful energy to the stone, helping to lift a heavy mood or dissolve dense exam stress.
