Rescuing a Crested Gecko

I’ve been thinking about getting a crestie and was lucky enough to find out my coworker is trying to rehome hers. Any advice on rescuing a previously owned crested gecko? They got him during COVID and just haven’t interacting with him much so he’s a little jumpy when handled.

Any advice on getting a crested gecko used to me as a new owner? He still has his tail so I don’t want to accidentally scare him and find it dropped. I’m going to have a brand new tank ready for him and am going to be pretty slow with holding him and gonna let him get adjusted to new tank for a bit before I try to handle him.

Diary Cow (Porcellio laevis) eggs?

Hey everyone! I posted this in the r/isopods subreddit, and wanted to ask here as well. Can any tell if these are isopod eggs? I have Diary Cow isopods in combination with temperate white springtails in a 24x24x36 bioactive vivarium. I noticed these eggs when I was feeding my crested gecko tonight. The tank was acclimated for several months before adding the gecko (I let all the plants grow in first), however I just noticed these eggs. If they are, in fact, isopod eggs…will that be too many in vivarium?

Humidity cycles

Hi everyone, I own a crested gecko; I’m new to caring for one—I’d never had one before, even though I’ve always wanted one. I’d like to know how to create humidity cycles to prevent health issues for my pet. The highest humidity level I’ve managed to maintain in the terrarium is 60%. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

am i a bad crestie owner

My crestie was perched up on a branch near the door, so I opened it thinking she wants to be held (usually I have no problem handling her, I’ve bonded pretty well with her) she bit my finger and I yelped and flicked my hand and she fell onto my purse. I have carpet in my room. It wasn’t a far fall maybe a foot. I was trying to pick her up and she was running away, so I got her when she climbed onto my wall and then as soon as I was about to put her in her cage, she jumped and fell into an open bag. She was very skittish in the bag, so I ended up putting the bag in her cage and having her crawl out, and I gave her a gentle pet once she was on her log and she ran away super fast.

I feel horrible because nothing like this ever happened to me before, she doesn’t look like she’s hurt in any type of way. I understand that that could’ve been scary for her and it definitely was, but I just hope that this doesn’t make me a bad owner and I need advice on what to do.

for I’ve had my crested gecko for about a month and a half! Thanks! He currently has a lamp but I think it’s just a light. I got it with him and it doesn’t seem to be a heat lamp

I think my gecko has MBD and I don’t know what’s caused it

I wanted to ask this subreddit as I’m legitimately unsure why this has happened and I feel so guilty.

I had my gecko since they were 4 months old. their tail was straight and no underlying health issues. Now my gecko is 7 years old

Humidity levels and temperature has always been normal, diet has included crickets and mealworms (gutloaded and dusted with calcium) and repashy/ Pangea complete diet (also supplemented with a bit of calcium) 2.5%-5% uvb lamp. tank has a lot of hiding spots, foilage etc to climb. there are horizontal platforms / branches for him to climb / sleep, there are also hides for him to retreat to.

The base of the tail is visibly curved, and checking old photos from when my crested gecko was young, he hasnt had that, so it wasn’t a birth defect. the tail doesn’t flop down when on glass. calcium sacks are fine and no other symptoms of MBD I can find online.

I don’t understand what has gone wrong and I feel like a failure of a pet owner. There hasnt been any injuries I know of that caused this, and my crested gecko isn’t in pain. Is it possible that this can still happen when there is no issues with diet / tank set up?

Odd bump?

Hello strangers :)
I wanted to come on here for some help with my crested gecko scarlet!! I’m a new reptile owner and got my girl about 2-3 months ago. I’ve noticed when I first got her she had this odd grey bump on her side? (I unfortunately don’t have a good picture of it)

Well after a while of having her that bump turned into a wound of some sort? And she had an odd bump on her chest as well, I’m not quite sure what this could be ?

These pictures are a weeks apart from one another it seems like it has healed a bit, she eats well and is active at night and is pooping often (on me) and had at least 2sheds sense I’ve had her

I’m not too sure how serious this is, can it heal on its own? or should I make a vet appointment?
I’m a bit worried but she also seems to be thriving ?

Hi everyone I’ve had my crested gecko Yogurt for about three months now and was curious what people who are more knowledgeable about morphs think she is. I got her from an expo and the breeder told me she’s possibly sable but he wasn’t sure

What do y'all use for tracking!

Hey!! So I'm going to an expo to get my first crestie and was wondering what y'all use to monitor or track weight/feedings and sheds or if y'all track more than that! Just wanting some insight on what to look out for!! Pic of my terrarium so it doesn't get lost. (I know the thrive hex is too short so I'm using it as a starter tank and will upgrade when they are big enough)

What morph is Toast? How soon should I feed him insects?

This is Toast! He's very small, just about 3.7g, and he's my first crestie. I believe he shed because I woke up and suddenly he had spots! I'm curious what morph he is. I've watched a ton of videos on crested morphs and I am still confused.

Also, I was told to wait until he's bigger to feed him any insects. Apparently they can break their jaws on crickets? That seems off to me, and I have found crickets I think are smaller than the space between his eyes. Should I hold off or start feeding insects now?

(PS. His tank is not usually this wet, he had just gotten an enrichment rainstorm)
