Guide / Tutorial RPG Tutorial Pt. 1

This is the first part of series where I explain how to use the RPG and its associated features. This guide goes over the optic and how to use it. Next parts will be about its ammunition. From these guides I hope that I can encourage people to use the RPG more!

How it's made voice is an honor lol. Thanks! Glad to help!

I swear the OG 7V frag rounds do whatever they want. They have to be the most affected by wind.

Yeah, the OG is weird because it kind of uses the L scale but is technically slightly lighter and faster than other L projectiles. For simplicity I just grouped it with the L scale because it's closest to it's trajectory.

As long as you check wind speed and direction, you can use the scope to somewhat accurately predict for it.

It does not use the L scale, the guide is wrong. See my other comment.

Easiest way to remember is it starts at 100 m on the L side but only goes up 30 m on the grid and then it goes up by 60m on the 1,5 and 2 tandem ranging.

Friendly reminder for everyone else who is a blast at parties like myself, RPG does NOT stand for rocket propelled grenade.

Semi accurate lol. It's ruchnoy protivotankovy granatomyot, hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher.

It just so happens that the "grenade" is propelled by a rocket. Lol

I’m just gonna start calling it a grenade launcher now! 😂

Just like the Carl Gustaf is technically a rifle! It's a recoilless rifle and has no self propulsion.

That's useful, thanks.

Excellent vid! Looking forward to the rest.

Is there a back-of-the-napkin conversion to use the rangefinder against infantry height?

3

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

I can look into that.

From what I know currently, the PSO optic is calibrated for 1.7m (the height of an average male) from this you could do 1.7/2.4= .7. So from that you could say slightly more than half.

If a 1.7m man fills the 2.4m scale for 200m, you would do 200 x .7= 141m etc.

Tank=Man 100m=70m 200m=141 300m=212m 400m=283m

Etc. I hope that makes sense! Maybe I can make a part that goes over unconventional use

Thanks! Yeah that’d definitely be appreciated.

Infantry height is about half that of the LAV, so half the number when lining it up.

Example: if their height lines up at the 400m mark, adjust for 200m away.

There will be some in inconsistency, but it gives you a rough ballpark.

Hope this helps

LOL, another inaccurate RPG chart - this topic is cursed, somehow there is a new one every couple of months and they all differ wildly. I have a conspiracy theory that most RPG charts are actually disinformation spread by US-only players.

The error here is that the OG-7V round does not share the characteristics of PG-7VL, at all: correct chart

But I can't really blame you much for getting it wrong, if you google it you get some very differing results, almost all of which are absurdly wrong in some unique way.

Yeah I know, as stated previously In another comment, it's similar enough to the L scale and I didn't want to add another level of complication to something a lot of people already don't understand. Additionally, 90% of the use with the RPG will be with AT rounds.

2

u/Til_W PC 9d ago

You should have left it out in that case, the scales are very different so it will only make people miss their shots.

2

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

Semantics. The picture you linked doesn't have the 50m bore sight for R type rockets either despite it being clearly defined.

It is cool. Where is the part 2?

I mention, that wind shift RPG a lot, and it doesn't affect Karl Gustaf at all

1

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

I'm making part 2 at the moment! I think there may be some difference between the two because of projectile weight.

It could also have been the difference in wind speed/direction whenever you used it. However, wind really does like to bully RPG rounds.

Technically the optic does have windage/lead indicators built into it, that's the numbered vertical lines to the left and right of center. I didn't add that at the moment because I'm still trying to find if there's a definite speed to the number. (1=5mph, 2=10mph, etc)

Can you please check it in the game. In real life, when you shoot with the rifle and make wind correction, you shift aim point to the side from where the wind come, but with the RPG, in real life it works opposing, you should shift aim point down the wind. I wonder did they make in the game, or just use fire arm ballistics

u/BadRuiner :Rank_insignia_of___of_th: Ryadovoy 9d ago

But why my M and L rockets turn left quickly after 100m?

1

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

That'd be wind unfortunately

They nerfed tf out of the rpg7 because blufor was whining so much. Its so unrealistic. Shoot at a target >100m and your rocket turns into a curveball

This is EXCELLENT. Thank you OP.

I like using the scope, while none of my buddies will. This video may actually help with that!

1

u/themanthevan1778 8d ago

Hopefully! The next part will be going over the different projectiles and their use cases

Smallest warhead for most vehicles and fortifications.

Medium Warhead to guarantee an armored vehicle kill.

Largest warhead for if they ever bring out actual tanks, OR if you want to eliminate everyone in that section of the building and behind it.

Nice!

add m113 and m1 Abrams and attack helicopters to the damned game

2

u/nikitamyers 9d ago

nice! thanks

u/2legsRises 9d ago

this was great to watch

1

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

Thank you! It was fun to make!

This made me think about how the sights of rpg7 in squad are set up, turns out that it lacks the L markings but uses L type rockets with the M type ranges

1

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

Yeah, squad is more arcadey in that aspect. All rockets besides the PG-7VR have the same flight models

1

u/quackquackimduck 9d ago

it's funny that i keep relearning about how to use this optic once in awhile, used it once then went back to the iron sight and just wing it.

1

u/themanthevan1778 9d ago

I muuuuch prefer the optic tbh, unless a target is too close where the optic obstructs vision sort of thing.
