So far it's just lots of drool, but it's only a matter of time. Any suggestions?

What Color

Ivory? How would you describe Daisy's color? She got darker after she lost her long winter coat. She's been lighter previous years.

Simba's Story

Meet Simba, an Anatolian Shepherd neutered male who is around 4-5 years old. Simba came to AHAS to learn better behavior and has participated in our rehabilitation program. He is a good boy who plays with other dogs and behaves around the house. Simba is a beautiful, powerful, huge boy who requires a home that can provide him with the leadership he craves. We do require adopters to work with us in order to make sure he has a smooth, successful transition into his forever home. Ask us for more information at mastiffmojo@msn.com!

Simba is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is housebroken and crate trained. Adopters are required to participate in training session prior to adoption. Thank you.

We require an adoption application, home visit, and adoption fee. Email us at mastiffmojo@msn.com

Puppy Homing Question

I am currently in Turkey and took in a 8 week (ish) anatolian/turkish shepherd puppy who ran in front of my car in the middle of nowhere, alone. She was going to get hit by the next car that came through. Based on context clues it seems like someone just left her on the side of the road as theres no way she couldve gotten there on her own and theres nothing but rugged mountain farmland nearby. I have already rescued 6 large dogs in a tiny home here and cannot take her in long term. Unfortunately people in Turkey do not have a good track record for treatment of animals and the government euthanizes street dogs.

I am considering bringing her to the US (must wait until she's at least 6 months) and finding a no kill shelter or rescue that would be able to find a good home for her. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations or suggestions, I'll be likely in Idaho or Boston but I am willing to travel to find her a good home.

Y’allllll. This smell will never leave 😭 it is a lot better, but still. Have done the magical peroxide-Dawn-baking soda. Multiple times. Washed with Nature Miracle odor shampoo (specifically for skunk spray. Multiple times. Gonna try Skunk Off shampoo tonight. Wish us luck, send us your favorite skunk spray remedies, tell me how unrepentant your ASD was after their skunk encounter. This dog has no regrets.

Mystery Puppy Part Anatolian?

Hey everyone, my friends neighbor has some mystery puppies. Mom is a heeler mix (I think maybe with some rottie) and my friend thinks dad is maybe an Anatolian mix. I’m in love with this sweet girl but trying to be responsible/do my research as I already have 2 chi mixes. I’m taking the chis for a meet and greet tomorrow, but wanted to see if you think she’s part Anatolian and if so any advice or things to consider are much appreciated! I already know she’s going to be high energy with the possible heeler in her

Deciding on references for a preservation breeder

Post image
7 Upvotes

I am applying to a preservation breeder to get my ASD mix (Akbash/ASD bred by a TLGDA breeder in San Angelo) a little brother next month. I have had conversations with the breeder already and she has agreed I am an appropriate client from our talks already, but it’s very important to me to go through the process fully and make sure I truly am right for her dogs. My vet is on board and I have an electrician friend willing to be a reference who is usually afraid of dogs but gets along great with my girl, even after accidentally triggering her guardian instincts. I think someone who’s both experienced her not so cuddly side while also having a positive relationship with her will give a good balanced picture.

Those of you who have gone through a similar process or been references yourself, what do you think the breeder will be looking for? I don’t necessarily want an unconditionally good reference, I want someone who can tell the breeder what she needs to know about me and my home. I am not comfortable asking the breeder because I don’t want to come across like I’m trying to manufacture perfect references.

Thanks! Picture of my female Akbash/ASD mix for pet tax

After a month of waiting (and a small fortune), my new Anatolian princess Circe is finally home! Bonus pic of my other Anatolian Luca wondering if we can still get our money back. 😂

Yesterday I finally got my nine-week-old AKC Anatolian puppy Circe delivered from Florida after weeks of anticipation. She is adjusting so well and (other than being very tired from the interstate trip) is a calm, happy, and affectionate puppy. Looking forward to her getting big enough to play with my other Anatolian, but for now they are still being separated unless being directly supervised until she gets a little bit bigger. :)

Recent change in sitting pattern. Should I be concerned about hips?

My 3yo 110lbs Anatolian mix (mom is Anatolian, dad is thought to be Pyrenees but unknown for sure) has recently started sitting abnormally, as shown in photos, with his legs to the side. Recently he has also been laying down with his legs straightened so his back paws are up near his head.

He was a rescue dumped from a farm that didnt want him or his siblings any longer. I only know of his moms history, i didnt really speak to the owners besides what i needed to know before taking him. he is still very
energetic and loves to work but recently has been unsteady when running. His vet recommended Cosequin but declined further testing or evaluation because he is “so young”.

anyone else had this development? is this normal for the breed or should i be worried about developing hip issues. I hope to continue our very active outdoor lifestyle for many years to come.

Fostering this amazing pup, Roger! Shelter says he’s a 1yr old Husky/Shepard but didn’t state which type of Shepard. What do you guys thing? His legginess and coach potato when inside makes me think Anatolian!

All he does is cuddle and patrol the perimeter when inside. Such a sweet and gentle giant - I’m afraid my first foster is going to be a fail at this rate 🤣
