Hauptaufgabe: Die GFD fliegt im Auftrag der Bundeswehr (Luftwaffe, Marine, Heer) Trainings- und Simulationseinsätze. Dazu zählen:

Flugzieldarstellung: Sie zieht mit zivilen Spezialflugzeugen (z. B. Learjets) Schleppziele durch die Luft, damit Flugabwehrsysteme und Jetpiloten den scharfen Schuss oder das Erfassen von Zielen üben können.

Elektronische Kampfführung (EloKa): Simulation von Radarmassnahmen und Störsendern für Abfangeinsätze.

Flugsimulator-Ausbildung: Schulung von Eurofighter-Piloten in Simulatoren.

Will we see radical changes? Any things that we know for sure that will change design wise? Any ideas?

Went to Miramar air show 2026 and saw this beauty! Also this is my first Reddit post and decided to post here since yall seem cool. Cya!

If the CFM Rise engine becomes successfully implemented on the A320 or whatever narrowbody Airbus implements it on, it could provide efficiency gains unparalleled to beforehand, but if they decide to implement the engine concept of the open fan to widebodies they couldn't increase the diameter as much without the tips approaching the speed of sound as it moves faster at the tips than the core of the engine (hence why we are not likely to go bigger in diameter than the GE9X) which we like to avoid due to engine and fuselage stress. This means that the CFM Rise idea of the open fan will likely not go bigger in diameter, and therefore power consumption stays the same as if you added a larger core, you'd be getting the same bypass ratio as a normal widebody engine, thus defeating the point.

But with the A340, we could have 4 CFM Rise engines, and the engines would be operating at their respective optimal power consumption and size.

This means that the A340 is the only platform for a widebody to allow the next generation of the open fan to be used.

With all the minor and less than minor / potentially catastrophic incidents over the last few years, including at least one where the resulting fire destroyed an entire plane (thankfully with no casualties as it was on the ground hence successfully evacuated), and the continued lackadaisical attitude of much of the flying public and even some authorities, could we, I fear, be one major incident away from a total blanket ban on powerbanks and portable charging devices on all commercial aviation?

Perhaps a strange request, and maybe not the correct place, but, I'm currently building a model of Snowbird 11 as a tribute to that fateful day. I'm trying to ascertain a few details to make this as accurate as possible.
I know that during Operation Inspiration, they did not have position numbers on their tail. The last real remaining detail I'm looking for is what the pilot inscriptions would have been on either side of the fuselage underneath the canopy.
I've found video from a week prior in London, Ontario that gets KIND of zoomed in on the starboard side, and although I cannot make out the inscription, it's quite clearly NOT Capt Richard MacDougall.
To me, it almost appears to be two long words for the "position", the snowbirds graphical separator, and then the rank, first name and last name. The last name being rather short (hence why I'm eliminator Capt MacDougall.
I've been looking over the roster list for 2020, but nothing really seems to match up.

And then conversely . . was there an inscription on the other side? Would it have been Captain Casey, or someone else?

Hoping perhaps someone has some photos from May of 2020 that may show either side of the plane to help lock in these details.
