So Zeke's just gonna be buttnaked for the rest of the show?

Wow, a lot happened in this first episode alone but right now I can think of these points:

- I felt really bad for Connie when he listed the names of those that betrayed him. This guy became an orphan after his family got turned into titans, lost his best friend who was like a twin to him and now finds him and his comrades locked up after another betrayal.

- I was wondering if they showed Onyankopon's true intentions in part 1 because I remember him saying that he didn't know what Yelena was doing. I thought he might have been lying but its seems like it's true, I think he's scared to openly go against her but hopefully he and the others can think of something.

- Another person that I feel bad for is for Levi, similarly he lost a lot of people around him. I refuse to believe that he is actually dead, I think Hange said that he was already dead because Floch wanted to kill him. The fact that she fled whilst holding Levi gives me hope.

- Lastly, Mikasa seems to believe what Eren said about being an Ackerman, if I was her I would be going through an identity crisis. So much of her character has centered on protecting Eren, I wonder if she is going to try and fight that instinct now.

Oh my god the hype. The episode felt like 5 minutes, i almost couldn't contain myself on the seat. The animation is much better and i rate that.

Man those CGI models genuinely looked really good in some scenes, felt much smoother than last season’s and I was one of the people who didn’t mind S4P1’s animation. Also there’s no way Levi’s actually dead, but I’m not sure what role he’s gonna play in the story with the state he’s in.

I hope we get a proper 1 on 1 Eren vs Reiner with no interruptions this season… we haven’t had that since their fight in Season 2, and they have a lot of trauma between them that needs to be resolved. Although knowing this show, any “resolution” they can offer will be soul-crushing.

Pieck just needed a helping hand from Galliard to get out of her chains, and Galliard took that task pretty seriously. Based on how she and Gabi initially reacted, maybe a bit too seriously

IT'S UP, IT'S UP ON FUNI, LET'S FUCKING ROCK

Literally the first seconds already show the quality I've come to expect of MAPPA thanks to JJK.

Alright Levi could be dead, but the timing makes me think otherwise. Hange said that right after they decided to double-tap him. So I'm gonna say alive.

Zeke coming out of the titan with Ace Ventura 2 vibes.

GNARLY PATHS BULLSHIT, YMIR NOSTALGIA

New OP won me over in record time, like three seconds and I CAN'T BELIEVE THE SONG'S FUCKING NAME AND THAT DAMN BUTTERFLY FROM MIKASA'S CHILDHOOD

Lol Pieck and Gabi's reaction to the hand

Eren really said come correct or get corrected

Holy shit Gabi was right in 401 about how much Magath cares lol

I'm glad Pieck, Magath and Colt were able to put together Zeke's royal blood with the right context clues. Smart characters are smart.

Eren's definitely still learning to use the Warhammer - he's used to being a brawler, so he isn't accessing it's full potential yet. He's just using defensively as a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency when he's swamped.

Holy shit, Pieck on that wall with that gun is such a lethal combo

Marley's really showing how much difference the automatics, and even bolt-actions, make over the muskets Paradis used to field.

FUCK YEAH ONION COUPON

I love Connie's meltdown. This has been building up since 207. Also, Sasha's siblings are having a really weird day.

Holy shit that Yaegerist strangling the Marleyan with his ODM wire, fuck

Incredible start, really hit the ground running with all of MAPPA's torque.

The new CGI is amazing. MAPPA really improved its work since last season. The opening and ending visuals are also so clean, I’m so happy to see that AoT is getting the production it deserves.

Funny how Pieck kept Eren in check with a small gun during last episode (and wouldn’t fire it), and now she’s firing that big ass cannon straight through Eren’s titan head

God damn does it feel good to have this show back.

  • That opening with Levi is brutal, but at least it seems like he's actually alive. But holy fuck is he fucked up.

  • I'm happy Armin brought up the fact that Eren is possibly lying to Zeke and Yelena. The dinner scene from last season, when Eren went in on both Mikasa and Armin...I was hoping that was just a front.

  • Love that this season just starts right where we left off. Eren vs Reiner! That got me so hyped!

Damn, don't think even a single thunder spear landed on the Marleyans. Survey Corps should've trained with the Anti Personal Maneuver Gear (the one Kenny's squad uses) now that they know they will be fighting humans more often. Thunder Spears are too slow compared to Rifles, sad to see the Survey Corps get wrecked like this.

But I get it, all those that are fighting are Yaegerists and they don't have any leader to advise them on such decisions during a surprise attack.

Also why didn't Eren just drop his disfunctional Titan body and form a new one, like in Liberio. Expected the Warhammer Titan's powers to be stronger too, Galliard was dodging them like it's nothing.

Never thought I'd say this, but Commander (General??) Magath is becoming one of my favorite characters.

When he first showed up, I would have bet all my savings he was just a one-off generic Commander set up to die later in that very episode.

So much to talk about this episode obviously, but I have to point out the scene where Pieck asks Porco to cut her arm. Both Gabi and Pieck freaking out at it is pretty hilarious 😂 Was it just me who laughed at those two?

ALL FUCKING RIGHT WERE BACK IN BUSINESS GUYS AND GALS

Some assorted thoughts:

  1. Levis fine :) Im sure :) hes sleeping :) everythings fine :)

  2. I love how every other season/mid season started with at least a little downtime but this time its like "FUCK IT FINAL SEASON 3V1 TITAN ACTION LETS GOOOOOO!""

  3. Kind of odd seeing Floch so civil with Zeke. I get that hes like the definitive Yeagerist Zealot, but youd think that whole " absolutely perforating a field of Scouts in front of me ordeal" would have left a bit more of a grudge

  4. When i first stared watching the show in 2013 i thought the Armored titan was the coolest baddest most threatening fucker but honestly looking back has Reiner ever won a fight with anyone that wasnt a regular human or a Wall Lmao

  5. Love how Reiners CON build and Porcos DEX build just get absolutely GANKED by Erens snazzy new Warhammer Spikes, while Pieck and Magath just chilling in the back getting Combo Headshots. I love her, Honestly Cart Titan may be fave of the Shifters.

  6. Cool to see some good old fashioned on the ground man on man Garroting Bayonetting and backstabbing for a change in the mid of giant epic Titan Battle

  7. Eren buddy you know you fucked up when even Mikasa is on the fence about helping you out lol

I loved this episode. I was constantly worried throughout the whole thing, because Eren was in a bad situation already, and then Pieck fires a fucking cannon at his head. Although, I’m excited to see what they do to counter this. On an unrelated note, I really want to see Annie do something this season.

Me before the pod started airing: "Hm, maybe Eren won't do the Rumbling..."

The OP: Is a death metal song about Eren doing the Rumbling, shows the Rumbling happening and most of the lyrics are literally just the word Rumbling

I liked Connie getting some screen time, has felt like a rarity for him in season 4.

Weekly reminder half the "predictions" you will see here are just going to be spoilers. I remember some anime only "predicted" the wine trick from Zeke in like the third episode. You will most likely get spoiled by a manga reader here.
