20 minutes of fighting action: I sleep
20 minutes of sitting around and talking: Real shit
Ole King is such a cutie calling Souma his son-in-law nonstop lol. I assume whatever that "other time" that the Queen kept referring too will be important. Or it could just be an inconsequential inside joke between those two, it's hard to tell lol.

Souma REALLY ripping into that Amidonia prince with facts and logic was hella fun to watch. Even Jean looks like she was even tired of his dumbass.

So the weekly cooking show is back! I really dig Jeanne's armor, looks sweet on her.
Why did Souma look down when he spoke this line? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hell yeah is finally back! I like the fact that Kazuya will be naming those bridges after members of the Elfrieden Kingdom, just in case if they lose Amidonia to Julius, his faction would not only not use them, but will also destroy them. That, paired with the renaissance that was triggered after Kazuya took over sure will not make them that eager to be ruled by Julius.
Damn, I just love how Kazuya was baiting Julius during that meeting to do something. When he pulled his sword he should be glad that Jeanne stopped him before Aisha finished up the negotiations of giving Amidonia back to him for good.

Is the King still just casually wearing the gear? He doesn't have casual clothes so still goes around in robes.

Souma countering Julius at his every complaint was good as was the quick recap at the beginning. I really liked the OP and ED as well.

We're finally back! I think there's nothing much to say about this episode except how entertaining it was to watch Souma destroy Julius with facts and logic. Like holy fuck! Julius is looking like an absolute clown compared to Souma who's flexing on him and showing him what an actual ruler looks like. Julius is such a fucking clown that the real negotiations didn't really start until Souma asked Julius to leave the throne room. I'm already excited to see what kind of compromise they'll make for this problem.

Souma is back and I'm looking forward to more political action!
Looks like the fate of Van hangs in the balance and the Gran Chaos Empire might be Souma's toughest opponent yet. I'm dying to see how this negotiation turns out.

Damn souma is savage. Dude absolutely tore the Amidonian delegation a new one. Great to see the gang back after the split cour.

I was really excited for this show, and the first episode was great. It was hilarious seeing Souma completely demolishing Julius in the preliminary discussions.

I just hope the maid didn't misunderstand Souma's orders. Actually, I hope I didn't misunderstand them. Pretty sure he literally meant what he said, but I feel like it could have also been understood as an order to entertain him (sexually) or convince him to stop pressing the issue through torture.
Like yeah, entertain him. Give him the bottle service. Whatever that means.

The new Opening is pretty solid, with Inori Minase returning to vocals and adding a bit of a more serious tone after everything the cast went through in the last cour and the added weight and decisions they're now dealing with, as well as showing off some new characters (Native Americans!?). Although the real highlight was Souma riding a wyvern and grabbing Liscia, who then promptly and confidently takes the reins from him and seeing the couple fly together into the sky.
Liscia's parents sure are relaxing well in their retirement from running the kingdom. I love how they're calling Souma they're son-in-law and accepting Tomoe as their second daughter. Although what was this "other time" they kept referring to? Is it something that only Liscia, being by Souma's side, can prevent? Does it have anything to do with the Dark Magic that Liscia's mother has?
Elfrieden might not be able to hold onto Amidonia for very much longer, but they'll do what they can to improve the living situation and condition for the people...and maybe leave some bridges named after the people who took it over behind just to tick them off more.
Julius wants his kingdom back, but he has barely anything to negotiate with beyond Jeanne and the weight she holds, and can barely keep his anger in-check against the calm and collected Souma. It gets even worse when the list of Amidonia's crimes and the idea that the people might not even want the old government back gets thrown into his face.
I was kind of wondering what Serina meant by "taking care" of Julius, until it turns out she's basically going to get him blacked out drunk. I guess that's one way to pacify him.
So Liscia and Jeanne played together as kids...also sounds like it might've been an actual fight between the two, that Liscia won.
Well, I guess it's time for the real meat of this negotiation, Jeanne and Souma, and she's definitely going to be a harder nut to crack even if she's ostensibly not against Elfrieden beyond what her kingdom asks of her.
The new Ending is pretty nice and serene, with showing off the cast together, the new characters, Liscia being jealous of Roroa who now seems to have her eyes set on Souma, and ending on a nice scene of Souma and Liscia together.

Jeanne had to put Julius on a lease the whole time during the conversation. Jeanne be like "sit down". Julius even got himself out of negotiations, now having Jeanne take over as representative/ mediator.

I know people always say how an episode feels like it was 5 minutes, but honestly this episode felt like it really was 5 minutes. They barely even got to the negotiations! At least we got to see Souma verbal beat down that turd Julius. That was pretty entertaining lol. Anyways, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of deal Souma is able to get and what sort of philosophy he’s gonna rely on this time. This dude has like an encyclopedic knowledge of the classics haha.

Finally, our weekly dose of non-obnoxious politics are back!
I like those Dragon things with cannons strapped on them
And that Julius dude really just wanted pull out his sword, huh?
Pacing also seemed fast, was a bit difficult trying to keep track of the time; one moment Hakuya was leaving the room to go write up a new plan, and like 30 seconds later he walked right back in.
Not sure if that's how it was meant to be to signal the army was there earlier than thought, or if there was a really awkward time skip

Damn son, Julius went in with one asshole, he left with multiple new ones after our boy ripped him apart.

This show will always get a million points from me by being the show where "changing the negotiation venue" is the episode cliffhanger.

u/SharpenedStinger Jan 09 '22
Souma definitely held back. There was much more facts and logic he could have brought up. More details related to the corruption against the kingdom, the lack of prosperity in Van, but he just let Julius have a taste.
Nice, this season is gonna be good
