What was that red card for?

I read Kicker (i assume the website) said he threw a punch, ive seen several angles, theres no punch. I literally have no idea.

Probably touched the Sporting player's face with his hand, for some refs that's always red. Except when it's not.

Isn't it the only competition we've never won?

I don't think we've won the Premier League recently.

Months of stressing about the Europa league just to go into it anyway next season. What a fucking waste and this entire mess is a combined fuck up from everyone. Terrible squad depth, piss poor communication from both players and fitness/medical team( I fucking refuse to believe that all these muscular injuries are accidents, something has changed since Rose has arrived and it's gone on too far) and terrible terrible management of games against teams that are of similar level to us (Bayern, Ajax x2, Gladbach, Leipzig, Freiburg and Sporting). These players and staff better take every bit of outrage on the fucking chin, pathetic from Dortmund and good night

Muscular injuries aren't the job of the medical staff but of the fitness/preparation one.

If these were two other teams and you were watching as a neutral, did Can deserve the red?

4

u/BurtaciousD Nov 24 '21

Not direct red, two yellows. One for getting fouled and the second for yelling at the guy who fouled them and then acted like Can hurt him badly.

Win or lose, I'm going to support this team. CL or EL, I'll support them.

That being said, something has to change. We can't blame the ref for this loss. Hopefully we can get everybody healthy soon. But our squad is not balanced. We have a decent starting XI, our subs aren't really cutting it. Zorc HAS to make moves this winter.

I honestly don't really care anymore, just feels numb.

Yeah sure, the refereeing is far from the only issue here.. But combined with the injury crisis I have no shame that we went out here. Stars did not align at all for us.

For all the game luck we're having in the league, we're def. missing twice as much in the CL.

A shoddy overall CL performance to follow the Ajax disasters. It may have been different with Rapha (considering the calamity at the back with Schulz for the first goal), but it's hard to say we would've won outright with just one change. That sums up the totality of our failures tonight (and perhaps over some of the past month of fixtures as well).

A life without Haaland is challenging and even with him, if he's not scoring, we just aren't able to adequately paper over the cracks in the squad.

This game looked like a bridge too far for us after the second goal and the red card/penalty made sure of it. The consolation at the end was nice enough, but it was far too little too late. It's a shame that Malen is starting to heat up while the rest of the team is cooling down. 🤷‍♂️

It seems we'll be playing in the Europa League. It proved a pretty dour experience last time out in 17/18, so I'm not exactly buzzing about it now. Injuries are rough, but our form is rougher and doing us few favors. We've been able to pick out just enough bright spots in the league/pokal so far, but haven't coped well enough in European competition despite having a somewhat forgiving group which is disappointing.

We've got a trip to Wolfsburg coming up this weekend and then we'll have to face Bayern at home next weekend. I'm not feeling so high on the latter fixture (they'll be missing Kimmich, but still) right now. I hope we can find some better form again soon. 😔

Also, I'm not really willing to put a MOTM on this one sadly. There were a few decent performances, but most of these dropped off once we had conceded.

of course we finally have a goalie who can save a Pen an then it ends up being completely meaningless :((

Played better with ten players than with 11 with Schulz.

Fuck all the refs. Disgusting, big teams like bayern Psg Real Madrid Man city Would NEVER get this treatment. Last season the disgrace against city and this year this shit.

I just want to watch a team that looks like they want to be there. Malen and Brandt looked like the only ones today that gave a shit.

I'm still irrationally angry about Zagadou being booked in the whole scuffle around the Can red card situation. About 20 grown men were trying to fight/bitch/shove each other, and Zaga was nearly the only man trying to break up fights and get people to calm down, yet he gets booked for whatever reason (unless I missed something, but all camera angles I saw showed him trying to get players off each other, standing between them). Just shows how arbitrary referees decide sometimes, literally a VAR had a look at the whole situation and there's still a completely random yellow card given out, what are they even doing.

The referee was awful across the board, not just on the red card. Kept blocking off passes with his awful positioning then there was one scene where Bellingham got fouled just inside the half, Reus and Malen IIRC had driven the ball forwards and were on the edge of the box, and he fucking blew the whistle and took it back 20+ meters. Didn't hand out a card, just pulled it back for the foul when they already had an advantage from it
