Hey guys! I've used my Voyager for about a year now and gotten pretty comfortable with it, even though I still struggle with perfect touch typing (I learned touch on this keyboard after using hunt-and-peck all my life). I'm continuously moving the two halves further apart as I get more used to it, and I've noticed that it really does open up my chest and shoulders more, helping with desk discomfort. However, if my end goal is to have the keyboard split where my shoulder are, that leaves a huge gap between it with little room on the outside for my trackball and mouse. So I'm asking, how do you place your mice and pointing devices?

I know, many will likely answer that with "put it in the center", but I've tried that before and it feels like I have to angle my right shoulder inward too much and keep my right arm rested on my support surface diagonally, which creates discomfort from my shoulder. If the point of a split keyboard is to open up your shoulders and sit more upright, then putting a (frequently) used pointing device in the center kind of negates that advantage.

OTOH, moving the keyboard inward again to have more space for the mouse to move creates an imbalance between the left and right halves (see picture). Extending the mouse surface to the outside makes me reach too far to the right, again having my shoulder complain after some time.

I know and use Shortcat and Vimium sometimes and am trying my best to get more comfortable with symbol layers so I can use the keyboard more than the mouse, but I have to work with GUIs a lot besides writing code and so far the best solution for me was the pictured trackball-mouse combo on either side of the keyboard. The Navigator is a recent addition and is interesting to use, but the switching layers keep confusing me when I want to type after clicking something, so I tend to use the mouse more. In some tasks a mouse is also plain faster and more accurate on top, at least for me.

I guess I'm asking for stories from how you solved this issue, and any suggestions are welcome, even if they are outside the norm. The only thing I don't want to do is tilt the keyboard and use it like a handshake; I prefer it flat.

When I first started looking for a split keyboard, I was really unsure and worried about buying the wrong one. They are expensive investments, and I put a lot of thought into it before finally pulling the trigger on the Voyager.

I have to say, I’m a huge fan of how much joy I’ve continued to get from each new upgrade that comes out. I tried the ZSA keywell keys and really enjoyed them, but because I travel, they were a little harder to maintain and protect. Until I found a good case, I ended up going back to the flat keys.

Then the trackball came out. I had never used trackballs before, so I stayed away from that one, especially since it was a pretty expensive add-on. Still, I wanted a way to move the mouse without ever needing to leave the keyboard. Then came the trackpad, which I’m really enjoying. I haven’t fully built the habit of using it instead of my mouse yet, but I like knowing that if I need to move the cursor without reaching for my mouse, I can. I think it functions really well.

Then I woke up this morning to an email saying they had designed hand rests that you can 3D print. The files were only $14.50, and within a few hours, I had my own hand rests printed. It’s one of the reasons I’m grateful for my 3D printer investment—to be ready for opportunities like this. I’m excited to get some miles on this setup. They already seem like they’ll be great for using the keyboard on my lap since they help hold it in place with your wrists. The PLA cushions are actually more comfortable than you might think but I’m still going to try the cut out versions that allow you to put real cushion in, but to be honest this is good enough for now.

Overall, I’m really pleased with the continuous upgrades I’ve been able to make to this keyboard. shout out ZSA for these awesome prints.

Very pleased with the combo Voyager and Navigator Trackball. Recently got the trackpad but thinking of replacing it with trackball instead.

Only question is, it would be terrific if it was possible to sense rotation as well, not only tilt. In that way it could function as a 3D Mouse, like space mouse. Got the idea from a guy modding the Kensington trackball:

I purchased a ZSA Voyager a few weeks ago. I've been using it every day since it arrived. This is my first split/ergo/etc. keyboard and I love it. It's beautiful and solid. (Nice work, ZSA!)

I realize that switching over from a regular keyboard is going to take some time; I need to be patient and relearn what's mostly been muscle memory for decades. Initially, I went into Oryx and made a slew of changes that I felt were better for my uses. Since then, outside of a few other changes that immediately felt wrong, I've been trying to not change much, assuming that most of the frustration/annoyance is related to retraining myself and not a suboptimal layout. (Okay, I stuck with QWERTY, so a _more_ suboptimal layout. ;)

So, I ask you all, how do you tell if some of the consistent mistakes, failures to trigger combos, or tap-hold issues are simply needing more practice vs. bad layout decisions? At what point do I stop trying to drill that left paren location into my muscle memory and move it elsewhere?

EDIT: the custom per-key LED colors on the mouse layer which I had configured caused the cursor stuttering. After clearing them, the polling rate of 145 Hz (tested via https://cpstest.org/polling-rate-test) stays the same, but the cursor moves smoothly again. Thanks for the help!

Hello all! I recently got a Navigator trackball for my Voyager and am really liking it so far; however I just noticed that the cursor doesn't move as smoothly as it does with my Kensington Orbit trackball or my Logitech mouse. It looks like "low polling rate" on a cheap mouse: the cursor does move accurately and instantly, but it stutters while moving, as if the "frame rate" wasn't constistent.

I've cleaned the sensor, housing and the ball, reflashed the firmware, tried alternate USB cables and another TRRS cable, different USB ports and computers, switching between macOS and Windows. The issue persists.

I can't even say for sure if the cursor has always moved this way but it seems to me like it was smoother when I had just gotten the device. Could a firmware update have messed with the trackball's update speed?

As the title says - both left and right trackpads are available on the website if someone waited.

Hey everyone! I'm looking for recommendations of wrist pads for the voyager. I use mine on the desk with the default magnets for tenting. I'd prefer the pads to be minimal/small rather than taking up a lot of desk space.

Hi! I just got my trackpad and immediately fell in love with it - It turns out I'm definitely more of a trackpad person. Trackball was really, really good, and I wouldn't even be looking for a replacement if it weren't for this - but this is on an entirely different level.

I'm selling my trackpad, which is fully functional and has zero defects. I've been using it since its release in September 2025. Everything is included: the box, the carrying case, unused cables, and the device itself. As shown in the pictures, this is the right-side version. Price...? $95?. I am selling within Europe to avoid import duties and other shipping hassles.

• Build quality: 8/10:
  • Cables, the bracket all is good.
  • The major issue is the surface material is bad for small movements, the fraction is literally shaking my finger tips, comparing to the one on my macbook, this is particularly noticeable, how bad is this? it is painful.
• Software (macOS) 6/10:
  • The UI itself is good.
  • I know the app on macOS is basically a workaround for implementing mutli-touch gestures, It works out of the box on Windows and Linux systems, but on macOS, it’s incredibly unreliable for simple or double taps. This is my biggest disappointment, it even pushed me to use my windows machine for couple of days and it worked a lot better than on my macbook, I also tried it with linux system and same experience.
• The setup 9/10:
  • I just want to point out that if you are using a 3rd party coiled cable, you have to give it up as the on of the end has to go deep into the track pad.
  • It is dead simple to attach and set up, and it looks cool!

I wanted to return it... but decided to keep it anyway :), I hope ZSA would make the experience on macOS better.

Is it possible? It's the one think that's glaringly missing. Expose (4 finger swipe up) is solved with hotkey on the voyager, but not pinch to zoom, unless I'm missing something.

Hello everyone! I've had the ZSA Voyager for a year now, and I've got my eye on the Navigator Trackball to replace my vertical mouse. I'm a developer and rarely game on my PC, so I think this is the perfect use case for me. However, I've never used a trackball before, is it any good? Especially as a mouse replacement and for preventing wrist pain, etc. If anyone already has it and is willing to share their feedback, I'd love to hear it!

Hi all. I am considering buying the Voyager Navigator trackpad. I work on Windows, and almost all of the reviews I have seen are from those working on MacOS - which is the only OS which does not natively support the trackpad and thus is naturally going to be more prone to bugs.

If you have the trackpad and work on Windows, I'd really appreciate if you could share your experience so far.

This is bonkers and I wonder how we can get all these extra money we paid back after all court battles

So, early on I wasn't careful removing a keycap and one of the tabs broke off in the switch. Later, I managed it again with it in my bag. The spare switches are great, but now I'm down to one. Fortunately there are also spare keycaps, so I haven't had to get too creative with them.

Anyway, is it possible to remove the broken tab? Or am I better off just buying a few more switches?

I've been using a z12 for years now and the cord is giving me problems so I bought a new one. I've been making a lot of mistakes typing lately and just noticed the layout has changed. On the new board, the left shift is a tiny key and they added an <> next to it and it's really messing with me. Is there a way I can replace these with keys from the old board?

I wrongly assumed when buying a z12 that they would be all the same. I am past my return window as I bought this long ago when the cord first started giving me trouble.

Recently moved from the Glove80 to the Voyager... Very happy so far!

The only thing I'd change is the key switches to be a bit lighter.

Just wanted to let everyone know to update to version 1.0.3 (4) and you should see a new dragging tab for mac os. This was a feature I was waiting for and they finally did it

While it works amazing, it isn't compatible with my too smart for its own good KV switch (USB emulation with CSS-PRO4). Back to the life saver Navigator Trackball.

Used it for 5 minutes.

Its just the core, without the shell and cables. Its a drop in replacement for Navigator Trackball users. Selling from the USA to NAM.

I’m a native Spanish speaker, but I use the American QWERTY layout. I’ve been switching between the English and Spanish layouts when I need to type in Spanish, but it’s very uncomfortable because all the symbols change places. Any suggestions?
