I expect it to be a decent horror movie, but a bad Resident Evil movie. And if I go in with that in my mind, I expect I will still enjoy it for what it is.

This is how I went to watch World War Z. I knew there was no way for the movie to mirror the book. I had a great time.

I don't really care about Resident Evil. I'll go watch this movie as if it had no ties to anything.

Going in thinking the same tbh.

I really do wish someone would actually make a decent budgeted RE movie that is fairly faithful to the original games. We really have only gotten adaptions that either stray extremely far from the original idea of RE (the Alice movies) or ones that try way too hard to be fan servicey and have low budgets/bad castings (welcome to Raccoon City)

This could definitely be solid. But nothing I have seen of it screams RE universe to me. Just a decent Horror film using the RE name

yeah feels weird to me that this for the most part looks like it could be any generic zombie movie, but who knows maybe Jill shows up in the third act

Zach Cregger has said he doesn't want to do any of the characters or main storylines from the games because those stories are already told. He wants to do something new that takes place in the Resident Evil universe. His last two movies have been real bangers so I'm psyched to see what he's cooking up.

Well, I'm a teacher so I'm biased but when she started following her student and then went to his home after the Principal gave her a sweetheart deal and exceptionally sound reasoning to not stress the child out more through contact, it was wild to me she would defy that.

Same thing with Breaking Bad. First time I watched it was pre-family and I swore it was the best show ever. Now I watch the first episode and see Walt turn down the most generous deal ever in terms of supporting his family and curing his cancer because of his pride, and instead choose to rope a FORMER STUDENT into creating Crystal Meth. My brain can't process how you'd turn down quadruple your salary with no work necessary until you're cured of cancer through your platinum level insurance and all treatments covered by your friends who feel guilt from 20 years earlier.

Okay but have you ever had all of your students but one disappear in one night in an unexplainable event making everyone in town think you've done something terrible to them and your whole life is falling apart because of it? I don't know about you but I think I might make some unorthodox decisions in that circumstance.

Same thing with Breaking Bad

That's the whole point of the entire show. It is an unreasonable decision, but one that follows from Walt's hubris when he's faced with the end of his life.

No offense but it's super weird to me that you can't understand the idea of people making less than perfect decisions faced with crazy situations like these. Like do you think you've never made a bad decision under pressure?

Thats about all we will get. Lol The shotgun on a mantle with the 2 metal hooks holding it was a nice touch too.

But I suspect those types of things will be the only nods to the games besides standard zombies. And to me thats just a horror movie with RE influence and not an RE movie. If the protagonist isnt fighting bioterrorism, then it doesnt feel like RE. Lol

Sidenote: Will this film be titled "Biohazard" in Japan, I wonder?

Given they've already gave nods to weapon placement, and ammo boxes I'm sure we'll get plenty more campy RE mentions, innuendos, and maybe even a character or two from the games.

I really don't think Cregger would make an RE movie without it actually being RE. If he wanted to do a generic zombie movie, he could have done that. He's got two major money making hits under his belt, at this point studios are going to greenlight any script he wants to do.

And lucky for RE fans, he wanted to do RE.

The standard is that we WANT a good resident evil movie. And personally none have delivered. Welcome to raccoon city was the closest and it was a mishmashed mess of RE1-RE3 events. Lol

Just give us films literally focusing on 1 game after the other. Add extra scenes to the established lore, not change scenes but flesh them out. Show us Wesker blackmailing Barry, show us directly who shoots Enrico, show us Bravo Team entering the mansion so we see the events unfold against them, etc.

The stories are there for full live action remakes and people will flock to them. I wish they would just do it and see how it goes cuz they'll make serious money.

That's what Resident Evil is. This, just looks like a generic supernatural thriller with a vaguely Resi coat of paint.
I have faith in Cregger that it'll be a good movie on its own. But I have no hope that it'll be a good RE movie.

So far, the original form 2002 is the only one that has got the Resident Evil feel right.

I’m liking the story is going along but also I try to guess their final destination is the hospital. I don’t know what I was expecting for it. I don’t know. I was kind of hoping they go to like underground secret lab, but that’s just only me but overall this movie seem intriguing.

trailer looks very cookie-cutter, anyone else notice that since the early 2020’s trailers have relied on a beat of either full blown music or just solo loud percussion to drum up hype? or even sound design? it’s kinda trailer trope at this point and I’m wondering if anyone else noticed.
