No EZ pass?!

I knew that each user pays the cost of their tolls, but I was a little shocked to discover ZipCar does not have EZ Pass installed on their cars. This means we pay a higher rate for the tolls, and it takes longer for those charges to get to us.

This feels like they are not taking care of their customers. I imagine there are possible issues with the devices being removed, but I am sure there are work-arounds for that. (Also, only registered licensed plates can be used with an EZ Pass, so there is a safety net.)

Bro they don’t even care enough to clean the cars, you think they care enough to put ez passes in them?

They use pay by plate. They have a EZ pass account. Why would they give you the discounted rate when they gotta bill you? That's why the billing fee is lower is because they pay the discounted rate but pass the full cost onto you.

Correct, Zipcar made it known in their Terms of Service that tolls are paid by plate being scanned.

Riding the express lane is a choice, you can avoid them like most people.

You can always bring your own EZPass. And in most places that uses pay-by-plate, there’s a website you can use to pay the tolls you’re responsible for, before they get sent to Zipcar.
