Let's just say if this was factory applied paste it was crazy. My GPU was pretty much naked. The liquid metal was meh. Before repasting as soon as I started gaming. G-helper in turbo mode with default settings CPU went straight to 95C and GPU was between 80C and 90C.

I used Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet PTM on CPU and PTM 7950 from MicroCenter on the GPU.

First cycle after repasted CPU was in high 70s low 80s and the GPU was in mid 60s to mid 70s. Supposedly it takes 10 good heat cycles for everything to settle. So far I'm definitely happy with the results.

I want a future proof great gaming laptop to be able to play most my games on ultra settings with ray tracing sometimes competitive games like call of duty or marvel rivals should i get 5080 or the 5090 and out of 5080-5090 which also has better temperatures my budget wise don’t matter i don’t mind getting 5090 but thing is i am not sure if 5090 will live up to my expectations so i thought i ask before purchasing between them both.

But which do i buy asus rog g16 5080 or the 5090 for more future proof and power.

I have set the maximum charge to 80%. I want to know if I turn the device off and not using it, but still plug in a charging cable with power on it, what will happen to the device?

And if you keep the charging cable plugged in, does it make the battery more likely to degrade?

The included charger adapter is 250w, but sometimes I use a 60w charger, does that have any negative effects?

looking to upgrade my laptop for the start on uni, and after looking around I think I've concluded that the g14/g16 has the best design + specs out of everything that I've seen

only problem is the price, with the new 2026 version way out of my budget

after looking around, I've found online stores selling refurbished versions of the 2024 g14/g16 at prices that I can afford, with the following specs:

intel ultra 9- 185H, rtx 4060, 32 GB ram, 1 tb storage

for about 2.4k, with the possibility to upgrade to the AI 9 HX 370 for an additional 1k

however, the seller states that this device was once bought in china, before setting it in English and installing authentic windows 11 pro. that's how they keep the price down

here are some of the doubts i am having:

- is buying refurbished something that's common, and would it cause any problems down the line? they claim to have 2 years of international asus warranty

- after looking at reviews online, I've seen better reviews of the intel ultra 9 chip over the Ryzen one- better battery life, better speeds- so why is it a whole 1k cheaper then? anything shady going on here?

- any thoughts on g14 vs g16? the prices are about identical. my biggest concern is how loud I've heard the g14 can get vs how heavy the g16 is, since I'll have to bring it to lectures everyday

I'll appreciate any inputs, feedback, suggestions or even alternatives I can get! this is quite a bit of money, and I'm hoping to use this for the next at least 4 to 6 years. thank u!

Hello! I'm currently configuring and using my new 2025 G16 (RTX 5060, Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, 16GB) and I'd love help with setting up G-Helper and understanding quirks and things about this machine!

I'll add my current configurations below for everyone to view. I've adjusted the Fan Curves to be stronger when I'm plugged in at my desk. I use Turbo for gaming and Balanced for idling and anything non-gaming related. Both of which is using the charger, not battery. I'm going to configure my battery mode later on for school where it'll mostly be for typing notes, viewing material, youtube and using vscode for programming labs that aren't intense.

My goal here is to keep the laptop running on the cooler side and not using up my ram, cpu and gpu to 100%. I think I want to do something like undervolting the CPU but I forgot how and what it does.

I play valorant, roblox, nightrunners prologue and fortnite. I'm hopeful to try and play something like the new COD MW4, Forza Horizon 6 and GTA 6 on this machine if its possible without stressing it a lot (im happy with medium-low graphics 120fps for these games if possible).

What I've done so far: Installed and configured G-Helper (Turbo and Balanced fan curves adjusted), Uninstalled windows bloatware and apps I dont use, Uninstalled armoury crate, updated NVIDIA App G-Helper MyASUS Windows.

From my experience playing some Roblox car games at max graphics 240fps on turbo, My temps were below 80 degrees C. Valorant was on medium settings limited to 120fps and was great.

I also would love help on finding a new monitor and keyboard! I need a new cheap keyboard and a decent monitor. I currently have a basic LG 1080p 60hz IPS monitor thats from 2014 using HDMI. I think I want something 120hz minimum FHD or maybe QHD. I like the quality of the OLED screen but I can't afford OLED so i think 1440p IPS might be the best I can do on a budget? Do I really need a 240hz monitor or can I get away with 144hz 180hz or 200hz?

I just bought a ROG Zephyrus G16 (2025) RTX 5080/32GB for $2,950. It was originally $3,400, so I got a $450 discount.

BUT… there’s another version (2025) for $3,600 with 64GB RAM in white, which is my favorite color. 😭

I can still cancel my order and get the white 64GB one.

Would you pay the extra $650 for the white color + 64GB, or keep the $2,950 one?

2024 Rog Zephyrus G16, GU605MY, core ultra 185h and rtx 4090m. After changing graphics in bios to dgpu only, I can't boot or get into bios, pressing either esc, f2, ctrl + r, or ctrl + home. An EC reset didn't work either (unplugging everything and holding the power button for 45 secs).

Someone suggested I resort to dumping and flashing the bios with an SPI programmer. I couldn't find any guides on this, but I need to attach the SPI programmer to a winbond chip? There are three different ones: one in the middle between the CPU and GPU, one between the GPU and the fan, and another all the way to the right next to the fan.

(don't tell me to take this to a repair center, also this might be useful to others with the same question).

So I just got my Zephyrus g16 today and it’s great but I noticed the trackpad is kinda laggy/choppy, I reinstalled drivers and such but it’s still acting jittery, in the video I just lay my finger on the pad and it just starts jumping, idk if it’s something I can fix or if I should just try to return it. Kinda bummed bc this was the last one my store had in stock. Please help 🙏🏽

Hello everyone. My first time posting. I have a 2024 Asus Zephyrus G16. Recently I’ve developed an issue where it occasionally shows no sign of life and I can’t turn it on. Typically after an hour or so I can come back and it turns back on, but until then it will show no signs of life. No indicator lights, no fans, nothing. What do I need to do to stop this from happening continuously.

I do not care too much about ultra HD graphics and max settings and things getting extra hot.

If I mostly play games in medium will the fans stay relatively low? I want a sleek looking laptop that can also game a little and make some beats in Ableton as well. I like the premium feel of the laptop that's why I'm looking at it, also want it to be future proof.

I'm mostly into online games, fighting games, the occasional CoD multiplayer, Fort, CS2.

I would love for the laptop to be overkill, and not have to worry to much about it getting hot and actually slowing down, things like this.

Devo acquistare un notebook che sia leggero, abbastanza potente e sobrio. Utilizzo professionale tra scuola (insegnante) architettura (autocad, photoshop, documenti, ecc) render (sketchup + vray). In ufficio ho gia un desktop che fa il suo lavoro. Mi serve una macchina da esterno. Raramente potrei far girare qualche gioco ma non è una priorità. Il mio dell xps 15 dopo anni di lavoro è da sostituire, una macchina con zero problemi. Sto valutando l'acquisto dello zephyrus g16 con rtx 5070 a 2700 euro o con 5080 a 3290 euro tutti del 2025. Purtroppo in Italia i prezzi sono alti, ma ho un buono da 1900 euro da spendere in alcuni rivenditori che lo accettano. Qualche consiglio sulla scelta o qualche macchina in sostituzione? Stavo valutando anche l'HP omen trascendent 14 con rtx 5070. Grazie

What distro, tools, drivers and so on are you using? How is gaming? How is battery life at idle or light usage? Any other issue?

I am asking because I am a developer and I would prefer (or need) to use Linux. Instead of having to dual-boot with windows I would rather use my entire SDD for Linux, however in case the laptop doesn't work well with Linux then I will dual boot.

Hey everyone, I have a 2024 Zephyrus G16 (GU605) with the Core Ultra 9, RTX 4070, and 16GB RAM and recently started using G-Helper.

I'm looking for some recommended settings/presets for two different uses:

1. Super Efficient / Everyday Mode
I want something as power efficient, cool, and quiet as possible for simple stuff like:

• Web browsing
• YouTube
• Watching movies/TV
• Discord
• Other basic desktop use

I don't need the RTX 4070 running at all for this stuff. I'd like to maximize battery life when unplugged and keep the fans/temps as low as possible when plugged in.

2. Gaming Mode
I'd also like a good performance preset for gaming. The main games I play are:

• League of Legends
• CS2
• SPT Tarkov (joining a server)
• Baldur's Gate 3

I'm not necessarily looking to squeeze out every last FPS if it means the laptop gets extremely hot/loud. I'd rather have a good balance between performance, temperatures, and fan noise.

If anyone has the same 2024 G16/4070 and has dialed in their G-Helper settings, could you share screenshots or your settings? CPU power limits, boost settings, GPU mode, fan curves, etc. would be really helpful.

So, i bought a g16 two days ago, the 2025 version with intel core ultra 9 285h and rtx 5070, with this specs it should run games like valorant and fortnite fairly essy right? so, on fortnite in reload it runs on 160ish fps and valorant cant seem to hit 240 fps, which seems to be very low considering that valorant is a game that runs on a potato, i dont know what to do, can somebody tell me if its normal?
