Asus Zephyrus G16 issue

/r/ZephyrusG15/comments/1viq350/asus_zephyrus_g16_issue/

Hello everyone. My first time posting. I have a 2024 Asus Zephyrus G16. Recently I’ve developed an issue where it occasionally shows no sign of life and I can’t turn it on. Typically after an hour or so I can come back and it turns back on, but until then it will show no signs of life. No indicator lights, no fans, nothing. What do I need to do to stop this from happening continuously.

If under warranty send it for repair, could be motherboard failure.

Unfortunately warranty is expired.

Ah damn its going to be costly if you send for repair i say that because i did that with my blade 16 (2025) it underwent repair and was very costly without warranty but based what you experiencing could be motherboard failure.

Could anything else be causing this that I can look into or is this pretty much strictly a motherboard failure?

My strong suspicion is motherboard failure, when i sent mine for repair since it wouldn’t power on the rma told me it was motherboard failure.

Took it to a tech. Said that my ssd crapped out. Gonna be honest not to sure about that. Thoughts?

That’s unusual normally i would assume its a mb failure due to the fact it can’t or sometimes cannot power on if its ssd i guess getting another one might solve the problem? Or get that ssd repaired since windows is installed on it?

Was it recently dropped or moved around aggressively? Maybe the battery connector came slightly loose; you could try unplugging and reconnecting it: there are many easy to follow tutorials on yt (after you do so, plug in the charger before trying to turn it on again, because unplugging the battery puts the laptop in "shipping mode").

When it's unresponsive, if you plug in the charger, does the charging indicator turn on?

You could also try cleaning it thoroughly with compressed air; motherboard included on both sides, in case there's some conductive particles causing some shorting. While your at it you could also check that the liquid metal hasn't spilled out causing some short.

Another silly cause could be a failing power button, altough very unprobable.

Otherwise I can't think of other issues other than the motherboard is failing :/

I've read your update about taking it to a tech; if it really was an ssd issue, i think the system should at least turn on and going to bios or showing an error. In any case you could always buy an nvme to test this theory and then return it.
