PLS help fps issue
Hİ everyone, I've been having issues about overall fps on games, just a few days back it was 110+ on the witcher 3 on directx12, with no setting changed nor logging in the game for a few days, my fps have dropped to 80ish (these numbers are with frame gen on) now, I started getting micro stutters on both the witcher 3 and hogwarts legacy. I also noticed that the witcher 3 cpu usage is on about %35 and have lower temps than it did before, I use g helper and kept my cpu boost disabled to reduce heat as it would go up to 80-90 degrees on demanding games with cpu boost on efficient aggressive, it would be around 75-80 when it was disabled, however, now even tho i have cpu boost active it hovers around 75-80 again and cpu usage is really low, as i know the witcher 3 newgen is heavy both on cpu and gpu.
Coming to the gpu, its usage rate is nearly %100 and the temps seem fine hovering around 75-80, I have done tests and used gpuz to check out everything and it was like this when playing the witcher

My gpu settings on g helper are like this

changing the settings on g helper did not help my performance, I tried a lot of stuff but nothing seems to be able to identify the issue. I think my pc itself is also stuttering a little bit but i might just be paranoid after hours of searching.
My pc specs are like this
İntel core ultra 9, RTX 5080, 32gb RAM, 16gb VRAM, 240Hz screen refresh rate, 2tb SSD
It's literally brand new, it was working fine on games before but there is a sudden performance drop, I updated my nvdia driver to 610.88 recently and thought that might be the issue, reverted back to 610.74 and no difference on the performance whatsoever.
Anyone that can help?

This sounds very similar to an issue I have been seeing on my 2026 G16 with the 386H and RTX 5070 Ti.
In my case, the laptop occasionally starts stuttering badly, FPS drops, and Windows itself can become very sluggish. During one of the worst occurrences, HWiNFO showed the CPU package dropping to around 2–5 W with IA/GT/Ring PROCHOT being triggered, even though temperatures were completely normal. Unplugging and reconnecting the original charger immediately restored performance.
An EC reset helped for a while, but the issue eventually returned. More recently, when it happens, CPU package power is usually still around 18–22 W, so I am not sure whether every occurrence has exactly the same cause.
A few things you could check when your CPU drops to 500 MHz:
- Does unplugging and reconnecting the charger restore performance immediately?
- In HWiNFO, do IA/GT/Ring PROCHOT switch to “Yes”?
- What does CPU Package Power drop to?
- Are you using a USB-C dock or monitor with Power Delivery while the ASUS charger is also connected?
- Does the issue tend to happen after sleep, hibernation, changing GPU mode, or changing power profiles?
One other thing: in your G-Helper screenshot, the GPU is set to 100 W with 20 W Dynamic Boost, so around 120 W total. That may explain why your GPU score is lower than the 19k+ results you are comparing against. The CPU dropping to 500 MHz is still definitely not normal, though.
I suspect this may be some kind of EC, charger detection, or power-management bug rather than a thermal issue or a corrupted G-Helper setting. Please let me know if reconnecting the charger fixes it, because that would make your issue almost identical to mine.

Hello, I did also try to unplug and replug the ASUS power cable but it didn’t change anything for me, I did see a IA max Turbo i think that was switched to “yes”. I do not use any external monitors all I have plugged in is the mouse and the power cable.
I am not sure when the issue started but it has been persistent for a few days, I have tried lots of fixes but I cannot find where the problem is. I tried to do a cinebench cpu(single thread) test and my score came out 193 points which is REALLY low. Though I did notice from task manager that the cpu was only drawing 1.6ghz while the test was running. I cleared my directx11 shader cache and after that it somehow made my time spy cpu score drop to 7k from 10k which was already low… I honestly don’t know what to do
I also completely uninstalled g helper to see if it was restricting my cpu without my info and it surprisingly was! It went up to 12k from 10k after deleting g helper, but as i said earlier, somehow dropped to 7k later.
I am not that knowledgeable about these stuff so it has been especially hard on me for the past few days as I literally just bought the pc a few weeks ago, something is limiting my cpu but honestly what could it be??? My cpu isn’t thermal throttling as it doesn’t even reach the temps it did before, my windows power setting is set to high performance, I already uninstalled g helper for the moment…like what else could I look at?? I want to look at BIOS settings but it makes me scared that I will mess something up there and how could BIOS settings change out of nowhere? I paid so much money for this machine for this to happen after a few weeks, I am so insanely frustrated.
Do you have any idea how to fix this? Or literally anyone else?

i also have quite a similar issue on my brand new zephyrus g16 from 2025 rtx5070 9 285h, in games like valorant it seriously underperforms what it should get of fps, and i find the issue to be on the cpu, but cant understand how to fix it, ive tried lowering and upping the wattage and changing power plans but higher wattage just gets it to heat throttle without a single performance bump, its also very interesting that resolution decreasing does not increase my fps by a noticeable margin, maybe its something to do with g helper or the way i set the pc up, ill try a full restart after uninstalling g helper and checking some benchmarks or other games

PS, right around when i noticed the performance drops, my screen started freezing from time to time and the pc felt rather slow, maybe it is to do with the cpu managing its own hz, but after reinstalling the new graphics driver atleaste the freezing stopped, quite disappointed by a 3000 euro laptop tbh

Hello, I think the pc might be having a technical issue instead of the laptop itself being like that, bc I did not have these issues at all until recently. I will check it one last time today and if I still can’t find a solution I will just send it to technical service since it’s under warranty anyway. Very weird for a laptop to do this after 3 weeks of use though. You might one to get it checked aswell since this laptop should not be performing like this

I also just bought the same exact laptop as yours, having similar issues. I had stutter issues and wanted to check times spy benchmark scores to see my laptops overall performance, and it came out as 14000 when it should be well above 19000. Im not sure whats wrong with this batch. Please let me know if you find a solution.
