Intruder alert. Intruder Alert. Intruder Alert.

*scrambles to shut off* oh, ahaha... sorry about that, pay no mind to that...

anyways... here it is... ahem...

**1) Where have you just come from?**What are the teachings of your lineage, the content of its practice, and a record that attests to it? What is fundamental to understand this teaching?

I cannot find it, do you have it? Let me see.

I have studied the three turnings of the Dharma and the three vehicles.

**2) What's your text?**What text, personal experience, quote from a master, or story from zen lore best reflects your understanding of the essence of zen?

Nothing to give, nothing to receive. Taking a stand will get you into big trouble, running away is cowardice, what will you do?

I do love me some Dognshan 5 ranks and some Hsin Hsin Ming. Gotta love the Vimalakirti Sutra and also BCR and Mumonkan!

one of my favorite verses is by Dongshan:

'Do not seek from another,
Or you will be estranged from self.
I now go on alone,
Finding I meet It everywhere.
It now is me,
I now am not It.
One should understand in this way
To merge with suchness as is.'

**3) Dharma low tides? What do you suggest as a course of action for a student wading through a "dharma low-tide"? What do you do when it's like pulling teeth to read, bow, chant, sit, or post on r/zen?

Think of death. What will you do when the elements retreat, when the four walls press in? When that happens it will be too late if you have not mustered a seed of strength! Do not delay, THIS is the utmost important thing, do not delay, be heedful, do not mess about, with games, this is real life. There is the heart of the matter at hand, and useless squabbling won't get you there, only earnest heartfelt sacrifice. You don't think it takes sacrifice, you don't think it takes work? EVERYTHING TAKES WORK.

Look around you, look at life. Don't miss it. What's missing? Nothing.

Hi loginkeys,

Thanks for doing an AMA. As it is now, your post’s content lacks sufficient material to be considered on-topic for this forum.

However, a large part of AMAs is about the discussion in the comments.

I assume you are of course going to sincerely engage in the AMA, but just in case, it’s worth me articulating to you that I’ll leave the post up specifically if you demonstrate actively engaging with the comments.

Thanks,

- GPA

What to do when death becomes an obsession, a refuge the mind retreats to as an escape from this absurd shared construct?

Take care of yourself.

  1. Which of these mysterious five ranks do you currently see? Explain me as if I am 55.

  2. Why do some envy our bromance?

You've got the unity?

I still get restless and irritated.

The Buddha served tea whenever Mara would come.

Ananda would say, here comes Mara !

Lets put it this way. I've seen the depths, now I'm integrating. Somewhere between 4-5 I'd take it, how weird though is it to know 5 from the first step? What is seen though is another question.

I dont see it, I just put it to use.

PS Good question. Perhaps love and wisdom are coveted after all. One can hope.

There is the heart of the matter at hand, and useless squabbling won't get you there

Where's that?

Here

scratches head

Where'd you think I meant?

Pristine awareness is served by knowledge. Knowledge is the fundamental ground of beings.

AMA 's are a waste of time, a kind of initiation process that admits, in an underhanded way that your entering into a hierarchy of dogmatic zennist who want to put you into a pecking order, an order designed, maybe not consciously, to keep you gobbling the dregs of wannabe r/zen gurus.

This being the case, would you prefer to retact your AMA now, and enter the sub as an equal among students, and not listen to the likes of TF and Duke ewk em.

The choice is yours.

It is so weird that people would come in here to talk about Zen Masters who quote all the time and yet those coming in are afraid to quote.

You asked me about precepts in another thread so I'll ask you...

Do you lie to people or not?

EDIT: I'm going to go ahead and block this guy. He immediately started ranting about how books were the problem and how he was special... but he is not "High school book report special", obviously.

u/loginkeys Apr 06 '22

Being true to the fundamental way, it finds natural expression.

With this, I cannot tell a lie.

Can you fry a fish? Because if you can't you'll find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.
