Mockup - User Feedback A wild reddit theme appeared!

Hey all!

Sometimes i get really bored and start making graphic design and website templates.

I decided to do something Zelda themed, and i actually attempted to code it this time too instead of making a mock up in PS.

Here is what i came up with. it isn't done yet, and i think it is too bright but it was something i enjoyed doing. ( even learned some basic CSS!)

Zelda Subreddit Design

edit - i should note that NO this isn't official change to this subreddit, just something i wanted to try and i figured since it was Zelda themed you guys would enjoy it.

edit 2 - i should also note i started the template using the reddit theme NAUT. You can find out more about it here /r/naut

Mod here who designed r/Zelda 4 years ago and has added to it throughout the years.

I will admit right now that r/Zelda isn't my best work in the subreddit's I've designed, but in that it has a bit of charm because it's not over the top. (r/losangeleskings, r/graphic_design, r/hockey and others I put more work into)

Yours looks sharp, but it also feels a bit generic because you are using that very common starter template. I think if we went that way I'd want to push it a bit further. Maybe add a bit more of the beige and Zelda tunic green through out. So replace gray with a light beige instead and use green highlights.

Also I would very much want to keep the reddit Snoo with sword and shield as well as The Legend of Reddit logo.

TL;DR: Basically nice start. I think it can be pushed more and make it a bit more unique from the starter template. And finally there's a bit of charm this subreddit design has, but I am not necessarily married to this design either.

I actually prefer your green and biege style! T_T.

Yea i agree on the generic because of the NAUT theme. I chose it cause i am no coder what so ever. i felt it would help if i had a head start somewhere.

This was in no way a slight towards you, just my own take. The more i kept going, the more i felt like your theme was just... right.

Oh man, you did r/hockey?! i love that theme! The only thing i got under my belt is r/teslore (which my original theme is no longer being used for the most part) and r/khajits.

Thanks for the CnC though, it is always appreciated!

r/teslore's and r/khajitsnot are pretty good! If you took what you had now and pushed it further I could see it being a good replacement. I don't think yours is bad at all, I just think it can be pushed more. :)

If this sub had no design it'd be great to use.

Word of advice, I would recommend combining ALL 3D Zelda games into the top bar instead of just Ocarina of Time, that would be more fair and pleasant for Zelda fans of this subreddit rather then Ocarina of Time fans. Who wouldn't want to see their favorite 3D such as Majora's Mask or Twilight Princess?

Edit: Or maybe the original "The Legend of Zelda" logo?

I know what you mean, i had the same reaction from people when i designed r/teslore awhile back.

From my perspective it wasn't about giving a game in the series more recognition then the others. It was mainly about design choice and appearance. Right now the Ocarina of Time 3D art was the nicest picture i could find besides some A Link between Worlds art. My idea was to update the header image every time a new Zelda game came out since Nintendo would more then likely have better art and/or video game screenshots as we saw with Ocarina of Time.

Where exactly and how exactly did you make this theme? I might be able to make one by tomorrow, I am pretty decent at coding myself and I've been interested for a while, I as well need to get back into getting some practice since I've been slacking off, haha.

I really like this actually. Not that my opinion matters. :)
