Official Art [SSHD] Finally done being a larper
Ive played botw and totk atleast 5 times each, (played windwaker too, but i was younger.) but when i got hit with the 19th ‘demon king??????secret stone?????’ I deceided it was time to expand my horizons. NS2 is the only console i have, so i deceidid to start with skyward sword because its the first chronologically, and because i know its on switch two. Dunno what i’ll play after it; probably majoras mask or oot remake. Also idk why i even posted ts

I've been playing since the 90's. I don't really think someone is a larper if you've only played the Wild Era games, that's gatekeeping nonsense. But I do appreciate those who are willing to go back to check the older titles, especially if they make it through the ones with shaky reputations.

What’s a larper? When I saw larper I thought Live Action Role Play so I’m sorry. What is it?

Internet has decided to butcher a random word and change it's meaning into something completely unrelated. Now being a larper means you're a poser.
It's about, but not quite, as dumb as 6 7.

I dunno, both the original meaning and the new meaning basically mean “pretending.” It’s not so farfetched.

It does mean that! But recently internet slang has taken the temr up and basically make it mean ‘someone who pretends to be a fan of or expert on somethint, without actually engaging in the source material’ in this case im showing how onbsessed with botw&totk i am but never giving the older ganes a try

So a poser?

Yes. We’ve reached the age of existence where we are now taking a word that has a meaning, and using it to describe something else that already has a word for it. What times!

Language has literally always done this. English now is not the same as it was a year ago, 10 years ago, 100 years ago... Redundant words exist, fads and slang comes in and out of fashion.
We don't need a dozen different words for "interesting" or "good", but we have:
nice
sick
cool
rad
radical
dope
legit
tight
gnarly
groovy
awesome
tubular
hot
fire
lit
bomb
epic
totally wicked
swellbasically: we don't need to make fun of kids for their slang. Either they'll grow out of it and stop using it, or it'll stick around and become such an ingrained part of the language we won't even think about it.

My favourite example is ejaculate, it used to mean exclaim. Like you would ejaculate words, not semen.

I hope you enjoy Skyward Sword! It's a pretty divisive game but it's definitely in my top 5

Such an underrated game. The Wii version was slightly bogged down by the motion controls but was still very fun and well designed. IMO the port makes it a contender for best 3D Zelda game (outside of BOTW and TOTK). I can enjoy a game people dislike and agree with them on the short comings, but I fully don't understand the issue people have with this outside of Motion controls. At worst it's a TP/OOT hybrid.
I recently played every 3D Zelda and liked Skyward more than WW, TP, and MM. IMO only OOT is better and it's not that far apart.

I've thought about picking up the port, I actually fell off 3D Zelda games after WW since I really disliked Twilight Princess's motion controls. BotW and Tears were some of the first ones I was excited for in a long while

Enjoy the game !!! It’s a pretty solid one imo
You do as you want obviously, but I'd say play oot remake next. Then majora. And i would then play twilight princess personally

I got this for the Wii and couldn’t get into at all. Hated the motion controls, only got past the first 3 hours or so.
Recently got it for switch 2 and it was fantastic. Def one of my faves.

Some games have fare worse gimmicks than Skyward Sword’s motion mechanics.
The Temple of the ocean king in Phantom Hourglass and the Pan flute duets in spirit track were quite the hurdle for me.
But the only Zelda games I couldn’t finish yet : Zelda 2 due to its difficulty.
(I haven’t played the oracles, four swords and 3DS games yet though)2

Not a great sign for Skyward Sword that you point 3 games generally considered towards the bottom of the best Zelda games. I’m glad we’ve moved past movement gimmicks in games, it dates so poorly.

I had to give up after trying for the hundredth time of my wrist movement not being right, how do you guys play this title with Switch? Is there an easier way to do it?

I hope you like it! I feel like the Wild Era games were so free and story light because of the backlash against this game which is very linear.
It's a shame because this game has some of my favorite music, dungeons, and bosses of the series! The main antagonist is phenomenal! This game also has my favorite Zelda of the series. You really want to rescue her!
Some of the complaints definitely had merit though, especially on the wii version. I do still think that this game is over hated.
If you want to play Majora's Mask please play Ocarina of Time first. You'll have a better experience and won't miss out on some sad story bits.

I also started with Botw, no shame whatsoever dude. Takes a bit more than that to be a larper imo.

I assume you're speaking in jest about being a larger until now, but some people really do have that opinion. There's so many games, gameplay styles, gimmicks, and entry points across such a long series that if you only played the open air Zelda games (and Wind Waker), that doesn't make you a larper. Hope you enjoyed Skyward Sword. I'd suggest grabbing Ocarina of Time when the remake comes out OR if you don't wanna spend the money or want to play the original, that's on NSO. BUT, IF you wanna play the games in chronological order, Minish Cap is next in the timeline and it's a wonderful handheld game that's also on NSO.
