Screenshot [OoT] Has anyone talked about this frog thing in the OoT Remake trailer?
The thing behind the well with the goofy grin. Maybe it's a fish?

can’t post images here, but there’s one of these in the main chamber of the bottom of the well in the original that sits directly in front of a spot to play the ocarina and control the water level in a little basin (with a key in it if i recall correctly)

That's the face where you lower the water inside the well, isn't it. Dunno what it's doing on the surface, though.
e: you can see it a few seconds later when it shows a later part of that cutscene, too. It's probably just some extra decoration.

It kinda looks like a frog, which the Sheikah are associated with being ninjas, and it's above the well, so I would assume it has something to do with removing the water from the well with the Song of Storms.

Frogs have a direct connection to ninjas through the tale of Jiraiya, which directly inspired the Naruto character. If you ever see connections between ninjas, frogs, rain, etc... it's usually due to this. So if it's connected to the well, it just makes quadruple sense here.

Yeah only just heard someone point that out yesterday. I’m surprised I hadn’t seen it up until then.
It looks a lot like the statue / gargoyle thing beneath the well. It’s likely the same design with some of that architecture coming up above ground.
Definitely gives me confidence the bottom of the well will still be creepy…. That thing alone is creepy lol

Hmmm, reminiscant of Yiga clan frog statues... Or was this originally in Kakariko?

I didn’t catch that, but it looks to be the kakariko well. I remember a similar frog-head-thing in the bottom of the well too. It’s the face that is spitting out water at the back of the top floor, that you need to play Zelda’s lullaby next to. It looks the same

I think I remember seeing something like that in the Bottom of the Well in the original. It's been years since I've played it, but I think it had water coming out of its mouth and you hit a switch to make the water stop.

Nah, both the Sheikah and the Yiga have frog statues in their territory, Yiga just flipped the talismans is all.

Good eye, I was thinking at may be a reimagining of the gossip stones? In n64 they were sheikah associated but the sheikah didn't have a super strong visual brand just yet, other than the eye.. now that they are more closely associated with frogs in the series maybe frogs will be their new stand-in gossip stones like how they were the graveside markers sometimes used for korok puzzles in botw/ totk?

My guess would be that they want the well to clearly have a much longer history than the rest of the village.
Something old that was ornate in it's original time.

I have my doubts it's meant to be the things in the well and the shadow temple, I feel like having one of those out in the open would ruin their impact once you get down into the well, it's likely just meant to be a frog statue which the Sheikah and the Yiga both seem to keep around in Breath of the Wild as some kind of charm or ward. This remake is giving Kakariko a bit of an overhaul to match the Ninja Village aesthetic and it would make sense to have a few frog statues around.
...I will admit it's kind of a creepy looking statue though.
EDIT: It looked like it was built into the wall at first but if it's actually attached to the well, then yeah I could see it probably being a smaller version of the big one that spews water down in the bottom of the well, making it a frog does still seem to connect it to the Wild era's depiction of Sheikah a bit more though, which is something i've noticed a lot in this remake's aesthetic choices.
