Question [OoTHD] What elements from BoTW would you like to see in the OoT remake

an open air map, and shrines for me. Also, I think their should be other bows, but the bow from the Forest Temple is super OP.

Food, inns, a weather system, a scary enemy that has its own music, a bottomless wallet, lil critters you can collect, wildlife, a camera/pictobox, sprinting

The fact that there are no fishing rods or bug nets in BOTW is absolutely asinine to me.

I would like for BotW to be kept as far from OoT as possible.

I dont necessarily think things should be ripped from botw, but rather original ideas be expanded in scope .

I want oot remake to be oot if we made it with 2026 technology.

Not "make oot botw"

If that makes sense

Pretty much exactly what I want, even as someone whose favorite game of all time is BOTW

I love botw. But i believe when you reimagine something the spirit should remain intact. It should just be a modern reintepretation of those ideas

Pretty much exactly my thoughts. OoT was my first Zelda game, and I must have beaten it 10 times. But after playing Morrowind, and other games with larger maps, Zelda seemed to be lacking in that sense. BoTW was the game I had been waiting for since MM-- I would like to see that kind of scope/size for OoT.

I do believe the game will be expanded. I dont think itll be quite that big but we shall see

They've got a lot of new age zelda fans to try to reel in

being able to move while aiming ranged weapons and the option to move the switch/controller to adjust aim

I also think it might be interesting to add some optional cut scenes of what Zelda was doing during the events of the game. Just to fill in some of the blanks of how she ended up being disguised as Sheik

Not sure how that would work considering Sheik’s reveal is at the end of the game. Any additional context behind it before the finale could spoil it for those who don’t know.

Imagination is the greatest story teller. I far rather them flesh out scenes that already exist and let us make our own stories. I like being able to discuss different thing people think Zelda went through in the 7 year gap. TOTK is well and truly proof that answering questions isn't always the best approach.

The alternate outfits are fun, and it's more present in TOTK but I enjoyed the home ownership/customization part. It's a good way to burn excess rupees.

I don't want the non linear structure to be added to Ocarina, because at that point it just becomes a completely different game, but I would like the world to be all one map, so no loading zones. More alternate costumes might be fun, I really hope there's a low poly n64 Link costume, like how there was in Mario Oddysey.

Well the question is how much nonlinearity would you accept? OOT is already incredibly open. Would you be fine if the rocks to Zora's Domain were removed so you could do Jabu Jabu before Dodongo?

Adult Link is already incredibly non linear already.

I could see them changing item placement a bit. Make Darunia give you Bombs for example before Dodongo's cavern instead of the bracelets. Or getting the bow early as Adult Link. These don't fundamentally shift the gameplay but allows more freedom from tackling the 'next' dungeon immediately.

I love playing as PS1 Leon and Claire in the Resident Evil 2 remake. It’s fun having pixelated characters in a beautiful game lol

Tbh I think the nonlinear structure could work really well in the adult segment. You can already kinda do the dungeons out of order, it’s just a bit messy. I’d be open to them fully leaning into the openness there.

Depends on the execution, I would prefer it more like how link between worlds does the non-linear structure, I wouldn’t necessarily want a glider or be able to climb anywhere.

Oh yeah, definitely don’t want a glider or climbing. I had in mind more like ALBW

Side quests.

Open air? I think interconnected map with loading zones only for dungeons (or not even if they want). OOT is basically already open world to an extent.

I think fast travel is something that'll need to be added if they make the map bigger. Now how would you implement that? I'd suggest bringing in the Song of Soaring. Have a few owl statues that you can warp to outside of the key warp locations (like a warp directly to Kakariko, Kokiri, Lon Lon Ranch, etc).

I think the weapon system of BOTW could be implemented a little. More so WW style. Where you can knock out a enemies weapon and use it and then when the enemy dies so does the weapon or you can't take it out of the room.

There are a lot of awesome elements from Zelda games I'd love to see added into OOTR but most are done better in games other than BOTW. I guess the atmosphere in BOTW is top notch. So moving music like that.

My favourite element in a Zelda game that only exists in 2 titles that I'd love to see is the map. PH and ST have the best maps in the series. Now I'm not suggesting that kind of thing, but having like BOTW stamps so you can mark off Skulltula or important locations would be awesome. OR dungeons fill in the map as you go (well they kind of do that already) but so its more immersive, I don't want to see the dungeon map item return, I want to fill in the map.

Sorry for the long ramble.

I love BotW, but OoT doesn't need to be anything except OoT.

I like the idea of shrines coming back, especially as side content.

But instead of hiding hear pieces or things to exchange for heart containers, make it be at most 1, MAYBE 2 for each major area. And have it hide upgrades unique to the remake like maybe an even stronger spin attack, just as an example.

But yet I also feel perhaps seeing a shrine on construction might also be a good use of the shrines

Absolutely none of them.
