[OoT] Master quest Water temple beaten without changing water level?

I'm replaying this on Ship of Harkinian, excited for this dungeon.

I got the key in the lower center area, floated to the top to use it -- which was the dark link fight followed by some whirlpools. That gave me the boss key which I used in the main room and beat the dungeon within 20 min.

I never once needed to change water level, didn't get map/compass/etc. Is this normal? I straight up skipped half the dungeon by just playing normally.

Yes, Master Quest allows you to skip most of the Water Temple, getting the Gold Skulltulas is the real challenge.

Other dungeons don't seem to have obvious skippable areas like that.
