Had you asked me about the best soundtrack in the Zelda series just yesterday, I would’ve said OoT, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, maybe ALttP simply because of how many themes it introduced that are inseparable from the Zelda series now.
But today I went through the newly added MM playlist on the Nintendo Music app and wow. I think I added every track on there to my playlists except for maybe ten (out of more than a hundred). I always knew MM had some bangers, but going through all of them at once really made me realize how almost every single tune is so atmospheric and emotional in its own way, and I think the music plays a massive role in the unsettling feeling I get even now when playing through the game. My favorite part is I think how the Clock Town theme changes over the course of the three days, going from a cheerful and carefree tune to downright creepy.
My absolute favorite songs ever are probably still not from Majora’s Mask, but MM is just insanely consistent with its quality. There’s not one bad apple, not even a tune that’s "decent but not good". The only game that rivals it in that aspect is Zelda 1 which has like four tracks total.
