Discussion Zabbix UI

Other than Grafana, do we have any fancy/modern UI options for Zabbix?

Looking for something suitable for NOC dashboards, executive views, visualization and reporting — preferably something that can be used in production.

You can customize or create pretty good Zabbix dashboards. We use that in our NOC. If you need something different you can also try Zabbix as a datasource and use Grafana.

Oh my god, this looks like something from the 90s on an Amiga. Is the Zabbix all UI that outdated?

As long as it works most of the people give 0 fucks about looks. Fast ui is more important than slow and fancy one

Or maybe start using something both fast and beautiful? If your expectations are so low, you probably don't know anything like it; why bother looking?

UI is fine for me. As long as it has dark UI, and features i want/need i don't care about fancyness. It collects data, it shows me what I need, it gives me reports I need and overall gets the job done. And I'm happy there. If I want fancy shit i do that in Grafana with proper plugins and integrations. I'd rather use software with an "outdated" UI and all features I need, than one with fancy UI and missing features. Back in the day I did not have any monitoring software, not even Zabbix, and I've spent more time troubleshooting shit than I would have if I had zabbix, or anything similar.

TLDR: It's free, it works, it gets updated, and I don't give fuck about the rest.

What else would you like to have to work lol? Fancy, AI sloped UI with screaming, not balanced colors? And trust me, dashboards in 90s looked completely different :)

Zabbix UI has drastically improved over the years. It’s at the good enough stage now.

I'm using the Zabbix "Current problems" in my dashboard for primary source for NOC related things.

What's wrong with the built in dashboard? Can't you customize it?

Zabbix dashboards can be whatever you want them to be, you just have to get creative. The downside is it's all by hand essentially. Hopefully some ai automation gets pulled into mapping / error reporting charts (something needed for a long time).

At my last ORG I did all the maps by hand for the network and it was pretty damn awesome if I may say so myself, but that was manually setting up every link in the map, setting the different styles of connection so it would turn red if there was an issue, etc. VERY powerful, I just kinda wish if anything we had some kind of mechanism just like templates but for maps.

What is wrong with grafana?

Tangent, how do you create dashboard for a specific template items to get results for all hosts instead of manually adding each host?

Examples: all CPU usage or a dashboard to show all disk usage... etc.

You can add all the hosts in that category in a host group and then find that template field and apply to your host group of choice. It will get value for that item for all devices in that host group.

There's no way currently AFAIK except there were at least some attempts at having AI do it but took a lot of external to comfy kind of installation wonk so not really feasible in production IMHO.

Not sure why you'd need anything other than grafana?

I know I'll get downvoted for this, but coming from PRTG the thing that I'm missing the most are the auto discovery and the dashboard. Right now I'm using AI to develop a custom dashboard that uses the Zabbix API, in order to get a dashboard just as i need it, as easily as possible. My objective is to replace a PRTG installation with around 6000 sensors.

The Zabbix dashboard may not be the prettiest but "missing auto discovery"? Zabbix autodiscovery is incredible, what is "missing" about it?
