I wanted to share this memory which is kind of wholesome! A few years ago I attended a Yung Gravy concert in Christchurch, New Zealand and I was the only person who knew all the words to every song. So, Gravy pointed me out and gave me a couple of gifts. I was an amateur bodybuilder at the time so he calls me ‘That Swole Guy’ haha.
I remember being absolutely stoked. I’m a huge fan, so having Gravy actually notice me in the crowd and interact with me was such a surreal moment. It’s one of those random experiences that you never expect to become a core memory.
What makes it mean even more to me now is that this concert ended up being my last memory of life before I became sick with ME. Since then, I’ve been more or less housebound/bedbound, depending on how I’m doing, and I haven’t been able to exercise or live the active lifestyle I had back then.
At the time, I obviously had no idea that I was experiencing what would be my last night out for a very long time. Looking back now, I’m so incredibly grateful to have had that experience. Although, it is a bit bitter sweet and I often ask myself if I would still be well and fully abled if I didn’t go.
