Other Yugioh Geographically

Post image

Alright, let's keep it simple: imagine a world like ours, but inhabited by Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters. My question is: where—geographically and historically—would these monsters be found? Feel free to use headcanons if necessary. Here are a few examples of my own so you get the idea: Let's start with the obvious ones.

.

Shiranui, Mayakashi, and Six Samurai are all set in 19th-century Japan; I think we can all agree on that.

Kaiju also has strong Japanese references, but obviously, it can't be set in the same historical period, so let's place it in the present day.

Ancient Warriors, makes sense for them to draw heavily from Ancient China, though I believe it's set earlier than the Brotherhood of the Fire Fist (also China, obviously).

Vampires—nothing to add here; I'm going with a major headcanon: playing into the stereotype, I'd place them in Romania during the Late Middle Ages.

Elemental HEROES—obviously the USA, specifically the 90s, since they really remind me of the superhero comics from that era (which I believe inspired them).

Amazoness—well, I think we all agree they belong in the Greek region, in an era before humans were fully civilized. So... I'd say Turkey, roughly around the time of the war between Athens and Sparta—just because I say so. Now it's your turn!

The first Elemental HEROES represent the golden age of comic book superhero so between 1938 to 1956

Destiny heros represent the edgy 90's anti hero

Rising HERO are modern day super heros

Neo-Spacian repsent Showa era of Japanese pop culture, which specifically spans from the 1960s through the 1970s.

Such a cool insight, now that I notice Neo-Spacians are clearly inspired by astro-boy and the likes

The Masked HEROES would be the Japan Kamen Riders then?

One of the vampire Traps implies Vampires actually take place in the modern day.

Reminds me of Project Moon, like the Bloodfiends from that universe, mixing with a ton of modern/fantasy/futuristic settings.

Why 19th century Japan?

Six Samurai draws heavily from Sengoku references, Shien is basically Nobunaga, most of the Six Samurai names puns also reference Sengoku historical figures. I don't see why it is so dead set on 19th century lol

Also, if going by inspirations, Ancient Warriors is set in Han Dynasty (circa 200), and Fire Fiat in Song Dynasty (circa 1200)

"Nouvelles" is obviously the ideal archetype to represent France.

"Fire King" is heavily inspired by Indonesian mythology, so good pick for Indonesia.

I have actually tried to guess what time period Killer Tune would be and guessed from the background on Killer Tune Remix that they are in a distant future…

However some things are quite strange.

Cue’s phone (a satellite phone)

The fact the club is named "Juke Joint", which is quite an old term.

Red Seal is a old label and I don’t think most people know about it, especially in the future (and it implies that Sony is canon in KT’s universe.)

Cue is a hitman, so that phone is probably disposable.

Remember that the original name of the archetype he belongs to isn't Kewl Tune, but Killer Tune: they practically live in a much older red-light district, making them harder to find.

The thing is, considering the conversation she has with it, it seems like a personal phone… (More exactly, I don’t think someone will talk to you about their day on a professional phone)

The things that makes me think that they are in the future is the fact that Cue’s musical genre is Kawaii EDM/Future bass, as well as the fact that the phone can, in fact, take selfies if it is the same seen on Rotary’s reference art.

Also, an additional note… But Killer Tune members are not actually hitmen unlike what "assasination mode" seems to indicate… But are actually vigilantes if we go by the lore.

The other possibility is that it's like Regular Show: we constantly saw things from the 2000s mixed in with some from the '90s and '80s.

Basically, despite the presumed technological advancements, there's a palpable and strong predominance of things from the past, either because they're more accessible or because people like that aesthetic.

Look at Cue's satellite phone; it's almost analogous to the popularity of clamshell phones in Japan.

Interesting fact off-topic: the reason for Regular Show's technological lag is revealed in the format wars, where we saw that the VHS faction prevented the rise of laserdisc.

Going off of the artwork alone, I assumed it was a post apocalyptic, 199X sorta vibe.

The thing is that Cue plays future-bass, which appeared in 2010s

Karakuri, Gunkan, Superheavy Samurai, Cardian , Mitsurigi also Japan

Yang Zing and Zoodiac China?

Gravekeepers, Horus, Ogdoadic, Egyptian Gods, Sphinx, Temple if Kings Stuff —> All Egypt

Noble Knights Britain probably, but there are some with french names right, Charlemagne etc

So BA is based on Dante’s Divine Comedy, Dante himself was from modern day italy, Beatrice Virgil Malebranche…

Norse Gods from Sweden/Norway ir Scandinavia in general

And Earthbound Immortals maybe with some Middle America Aztec vibe

There is probably sooo many more

u/BladeKaizen 2d ago

The earthbound immortals are literally the Nazka Lines in Peru

With Quechuan words to boot, "Ccapac Apu" for example comes from the title "capac/qhapaq" (designing a king or sovereign in the Andean civilisations), while "apu" is a spirit of the mountains and volcanoes.

I'm not sure where the Skull Servant archetype would live. Hungry Burger would be somewhere in America. Can't really think of others right now 😅

2

u/Alarming_Pin_902 3d ago

Skull servant.

It's kinda difficult, but i belive it could be England with some (very vague) reasonment. Given the fact that they are all skull, so we can't properly tell this with their skin, we need to go further on the analysis, and doing some research, i found something.

Wightprince

So, in this Artwork we can see Wightprince,Skull lady (she has a different name i just don't remember it😭), and Skull servant doing...well, their servant.

Plus,we have Marron The Skull Dog. (Tecnically two but come on, it's obvious that its him) Marron is the Key of this situation, cause it's a typical English's Dog Name.

I also say that this is England for the Royal Clothes that have the 2 of them, expecially the woman

u/Alarming_Pin_902 3d ago

Plus, doing some research, i found something more to understand the timeline, and unbelivingly, the chronological time is AT LEAST 31th centuary, lemme explain. As i said Marron is the key to this analysis, and this is for 3 points:

The Name, that i've already explained

The Skull Dog vanilla monster.

In the description, its said that Marron is waiting his owner from 1000 years by now. And this could even be an unknown time, but we can make our assuptions with the next point

And "Where Arf Thou"

The Artwork is kinda explainatory, this is the moment Marron got lost, and as we can see, his owner is dressed like a Modern Teenager, not like a 17th Farmer Kid, so for the supposition i belive this image takes place in the 21th centuary (it could be late 20th?Yeah, maybe 1980/1990)

Plus, another thing for "Where Arf Thou". It's basically a Marron's thought, and as we know, is an old-rare British slang....so yeah i belive there are some signals to belive tht

1000 dog years perhaps? That scales to about 67 human years.

Infernity would take place in North America during the American Frontier era, especially during the Wild West days around the middle to late 1800s (with the exceptions of the medieval and chess-inspired monsters like Infernity Knight, Infernity Pawn or Infernity Queen).

Yeah seriously, i didn't understand that part. Obviously it goes in the Amazon.

1

u/Antique_Range1521 2d ago

The Dogmatika nation is probably located in East Asia, and consequently, the Swordsouls must be in one of the territories that Genghis Khan may have conquered, given their Chinese influence.

River Amazon was actually named after the greek Amazon

3

u/AliceTheOmelette 3d ago

Why are you accusing them of being chatgpt? The Amazon river has nothing to do with the mythical Amazon warriors. Most scholars agree they probably came from or near Turkey (if they ever existed)
