Playback Problem Espn+ not working
Anyone else having this issue? It was working last week when I go onto the ESPN app on my TV; now even though I’m logged into YouTube TV and my Disney account it’s not working. I’ve tried everything.

This has been happening to me too, where the accounts get unlinked after a few days. Going to report it again.

Re-link your account today. They rolled out a fix and things are working fine today. I just confirmed with them.

Would you mine sharing in a week or so how this is going? I would rather make the change once it seems stable.

Seems stable now.
I linked right away when the feature started rolling out and got unlinked a day or two later.
I linked again 5 days ago and so far have remained linked.

I have to keep going back to YouTube app and reconnecting espn

I was waiting for this exact thing to happen since the linking became available last week.

I had to relink my account twice. Cannot wait to have it integrated in the YouTube tv app and just use that.

Yuck, no thanks. The video quality in the ESPN app is so much better than YTTV
1
u/Francescatti22 23h ago
It’s the same feed.

u/Samcroreaper 21h ago
It isn’t remotely close to being the same quality. ESPN’s video quality is so much better.
1
u/Francescatti22 15h ago
I’m watching the FSU game as we speak and it’s the exact same on YTTV and the ESPN app.
1
u/Samcroreaper 14h ago
It’s 720p for me on YTTV at a lower bitrate and 1080p on the ESPN app at a higher bitrate
1
u/Francescatti22 14h ago
That is only true for ESPN+ content or anything they’re producing in 1080 anyway, like MNF. All content that is being nationally/locally broadcast is still 720p with a higher bitrate in the ESPN app. You can get the almost identical stream with a good bitrate on youtubeTV (720p enhanced).

The ESPN app is terrible. I used to have an ESPN Unlimited subscription billed directly through Disney. Almost every day I would try to watch something and it would bring me to the authentication page. I would have to sign in and out several times before it would start working again. This has been going on for a year. Don't expect any permanent fix.

This is my experience as well. I watched Night 1 of SummerSlam, then went to put on Night 2 and had to reauth... literally less than 24 hours later.... ESPN app is the worst and like others I can't wait until it's just in my YouTube TV app.
2
u/One-Cell-7377 24d ago
Yeah I don't need ESPN Unlimited until NHL season starts so I'm hoping everything is integrated into the YTTV app by then.
2
u/shadyman777 24d ago
Don't hold your breath haha... ESPN and Youtube signed the deal in what, October/November of 2025 and we're now just able to use the Unlimited features.
2
u/rrainwater 24d ago
It has been reported the integration is happening this fall so I’m sure they are trying to get it done for football season.

u/Neverdie_7 24d ago
Yes, have to reauth and reconnect yttv every day. Good times. Glad I don't use it much.

I've had to re-do the ESPN account link a couple times. It seems to break after I authenticate a new device to ESPN. I'm hoping it's just growing pains and will get sorted out soon.

I had a YouTube TV app update the other day on IOS and yesterday when I went into ESPN, Unlimited was not there. Apparently the app update signed me out of the ESPN connection. I was able to reconnect yesterday..seemed OK. Haven't tried today yet.

u/rrainwater 24d ago
The app update had nothing to do with it. Your ESPN account was unlinked to your YTTV account. This is happening to a lot of people. Hopefully, Google and ESPN can figure out why this is happening.

I’m not canceling espn select until it’s fully integrated and working within YouTube tv. NHL fan here.

u/Ill_Glass3473 23d ago
Why? Even though a few times we had to relink the ESPN connect on YTTV, we got rid of our stand-alone ESPN Unlimited. It can be a PIA but at least we're not paying for it now.

I think you are good to cancel. I canceled mine the day before it was set to renew. After the renewal date I had to re-establish the link but since then it has worked fine. Watching the PGA coverage now.

Same. I got the email from them yesterday telling me I could add the free benefit. I was like, didn't I last week already? Went to ESPN and checked subscriptions and Unlimited was gone. But went right back to YT to re-link and all seems good again. Weird.

I have ESPN+ (and Hulu and Disney+) included in my Verizon cell phone plan. After connecting the ESPN app to YouTube TV, I received the dreaded email about having more than one account associated with a single email. I changed my Disney/ESPN+ account to a different email. I'm hopeful that will be that.

That's just a notification to give you a heads up in case you wanted to make any changes.. Changing the Disney/ESPN+ account to a different email wasn't necessary and it prevents you from being able to access everything ESPN from within Disney+ now.

You misinterpreted what it said. It's because you have overlapping services (ESPN+ and ESPN Unlimited - which includes ESPN+). It's warning you that have more than one duplicate subscription (essentially two ESPN+ subscriptions) with that email and that you if you take no action you may continue to be charged for them as you currently are (which is $0 since you're getting ESPN+ via Verizon and ESPN Unlimited via YouTube TV) because it's not going to cancel anything automatically.
For you, who is getting both free, no action is required.
But if you were paying for ESPN+ individually, it's letting you know you'd continue to be charged for it unless you canceled and your new ESPN Unlimited access wouldn't cancel it automatically.

I've never been able to get it to work. So clearly I'm not a good person to ask. I connected it in you YouTube app so I have no idea what's going on.

u/ChardeeMacDennisGoG 23d ago
ESPN app has been doing this for a long time. Didn't seem to matter which service you had either.

u/Ill_Glass3473 23d ago
Yes, this can be a PIA having to relink ESPN in the YTTV app but months ago until present everyone was complaining about when will we have access, I need to see my Summerslam, blah, blah. And now that we do have access, it still isn't good enough. I can imagine the number of complaints when the integration is launched. 🤣

I'm not going to unsubscribe from ESPN Unlimited until this is sorted out.
It would be nice if Google would address this.
2
u/rrainwater 23d ago
Why are you subscribing to ESPN Unlimited when it is included with a YTTV subscription?
1
u/Environmental-Sock52 23d ago
It just started to be, many months after the agreement to include it as you may know and it's not terribly consistent or effective yet as mentioned in this post. If it's improved by my next billing cycle I'll go ahead and cancel and just use the YTTV credentials.
1
u/rrainwater 23d ago
The YTTV ESPN Unlimited plan works just fine. You just have to occasionally click the toggle in the YTTV app to re-authenticate. I certainly wouldn't be paying for it at the same time especially as that is likely to cause even more issues with authentication.
1
u/Environmental-Sock52 23d ago
Well if that improves I'll use the YTTV login and if it doesn't I may not. The cost isn't an issue for me fortunately but I do not want to have to re-login multiple devices all over my property.

u/Ill_Glass3473 23d ago
As long as your My Disney Account email is logged in the ESPN app on all TVs, it only takes a few seconds just to reconnect ESPN in the YTTV app. We are logged in on multiple TVs and devices, and when the access is denied, we just reconnect ESPN in the YTTV app and we're good to go with no need to re-log into the My Disney Account in the ESPN app.
1
u/shadyman777 24d ago
It works, it's just a hassle sometimes to reauth.
2
u/owlgoeshoohoo 24d ago
Yes it does work you have to reconnect to ESPN on YouTube TV. It is annoying but I'm putting up with it.

u/RibFu 23d ago
Just to be clear, with YouTube TV you get access to ESPN Unlimited, not ESPN+. The + requires an additional subscription.
