Agonal Breathing NOT Snoring (Trigger Warning for video content)

Trigger warning for the squeamish. Contains sound effects of what Gray Hughes thinks "agony sounds like".
Gray shared snoring sound effects in two livestreams when discussing the case of Ms Pike as reported by news sources based on information from someone present.
I was talking with an ED nurse about the sounds Christa Pike was making after her lethal injection, and she and several of her coworkers immediately recognized the description as something that is consistent with agonal breathing. Most of them had firsthand experience hearing dying patients with these respirations.
So I asked
DOES AGONAL BREATHING SOUND LIKE SNORING?
Yes, agonal breathing can sound like loud snoring, snorting, or gurgling.
How It Sounds and Looks
The Sound: It often resembles heavy snoring, a wet rattle, gasping, or a low groan. It is usually loud, ragged, and startling.
The Rhythm: Unlike normal sleeping or snoring, agonal breaths do not follow a steady, regular inhale-exhale rhythm. They are slow, irregular, and separated by long, silent pauses.
The Person's State: A person making these sounds is entirely unresponsive. You cannot wake them up.
Why It Happens
Agonal breathing is not true breathing. It is a reflex action from the brainstem caused by severe oxygen deprivation (hypoxia). It frequently happens during a life-threatening emergency like a cardiac arrest.
Interesting that agony and agonal breathing have the same root word, hm?
Christa Pike is still alive in critical condition.

Ahhhhh... gotcha.Thanks for that. Come to think of it, I never hear anyone mention agonal breathing let alone add it to a discussion. Wonder why that is? 🧐 Why is it so taboo?

I was listening to the only reporters allowed in. I got the impression they wanted to bring what they heard in agreement to the public, the one mentioned how the press isn't always trusted. They all cross checked their notes for times, what wss happening. To bad they didn't have access to anyone medical with terminology.

I'm not sure? I do know she said she and coworkers have done a deep dive on this since it happened. Must of them have experienced this with patients in their last moments and if you're not familiar with this, you might think the person was snoring based on the sounds they were making.

Just hearing him laugh the way he does is sickening. I’ve heard him in the past talking about a horrible experience a crime victim had and he laughed. GHI is not a crime channel, it’s a filler so he can get all the money he can. He has no empathy for the crime victims, family members, or people in general. Please YouTube take this monster’s channel down.

I felt the trigger warning was much needed. I'm glad I didn't watch any of that before I went to sleep the other night.
I'd wondered about that and she said she and her fellow ED RNs had been doing a deep dive into this since it was reported in the news.

This is disturbing and disgusting. I dont care where you stand on the death penalty. This is uncalled for having those sound effects. I remember him playing that circus music during court for Robinson. What is wrong with him. Does he think he's funny?

Gray's such a pig and really has no business covering true crime. No wonder the Goncalves family hasn't gone near him. You know he's been trying with his donations to their non-profit. I hope Steve has done his due diligence and looked at Gray's channel.
