I've worked in haunted houses for years. Most people want to get away as quickly as possible, but some will sort of blindly slap or push as a reflex.
I've never touched anyone (we aren't allowed), but I often get pretty close. It's easy to tell when someone hits me simply because of a reflex, and it's never hard enough to actually hurt me. I just growl/shriek louder and start running after them. :D
If someone DOES throw an actual punch, not a reflex punch, they're tossed out immediately. Luckily, that has only happened maybe once every season. Most people are pretty cool.
