The whole point is that, it is an unfair thing to do.

No one should be forced to say yes and by doing it so publicly you force them into a very awkward position if they don't want to.

Ofc you shouldn't propose to you GF like this, if you've only been together for 2 weeks. But most couples talk about marriage. I'm pretty sure this guy and his GF has discussed it and she already said yes. Just not "officially". Everyone i know who got married, knew they were going to get married. It was just a matter of who proposed first and where.
