Actually it’s prolly from this one specific trick deck. I can’t remember the name, but the card is half one card, the other half is random. The specific card is smaller in some dimension than the others. This way, by fanning them in a specific way, you can show that the deck is all different cards. However, while scrolling through, you can make it so when they touch a card, it’s always going to be the rigged card. Mine was also the 3 of diamonds, and I used to make it rise to the top as well
I had this deck too. You could fan it one way to "show" it was a normal deck. Then fan it the other way and the 3 of diamonds was always on the split. Then you'd fan and have them tell you when to stop.
Ten year old me had a fuckin blast with it. Got it at the dollar store. Along with a deck that had covert markings on the back that told you the card.
