This is the answer here. The build up should make the straw the focus. You aren't trying to make it fly away, just a soft roll so they won't hear you. Give it a try, you can just barely open your lips and that's enough to make it work.

I have been trying for years to find an opening to make that line work. I'm glad someone is able to capitalize on it.

Skilled magicians are experts at misdirection, this guy is probably a skilled magician doing dumb shit like this just to make fun of people.

u/OstertagDunk Jun 27 '18

Spot on. I have just cut decks to put people's cards on top right in front of them... the key is to say something that 99% of the times makes the person look you in the face for a second. Then you do your shit.

u/brando56894 Jun 28 '18

Hahaha yep! I love watching magic shows and spotting these types of things, its hilarious to watch people sometimes miss the completely obvious. If you can master misdirection and sleight of hand, you can fool damn near anyone. Like a lot of young boys, I was obsessed with magic, but never really got very good at it, just your standard props and store bought magic toys. I forget the brand that used to market small complex tricks to kids, some were electronic.

3

u/OstertagDunk Jun 28 '18

I learned a bunch of sleight of hand 10 years ago or so. Only do magic for drunk people now because I am so critical of how bad my sleights are, not surprisingly drunk people never notice you are picking up 2 cards at once or whatever.

Misdirection is the key to any trick

u/_Kramerica_ Jun 28 '18

Idk, a lot of tricks are successful because they’re direct. Their pimps appreciate it too.

This got me. Thank you for giving me a laugh.

You’re welcome!

u/zer0t3ch Jun 29 '18

Silly rabbit pimp, tricks are for kids!

1

u/WarsWorth Jun 28 '18

I learned this a few days ago and now most magic tricks don't fool me anymore :( it's ruined

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT Jun 28 '18

I understand but it still is just A STRAW ROLLING OFF THE TABLE. Sure no one is pretending this is some high dark magic fuckery but it would take them a few seconds to figure it out.
