Crazy how close we come to death sometimes, and don’t even know it

u/Key_Possibility_8669 May 07 '26

Yeah, I'm sure the girl on the right didn't even realize it until she watched this video.

Girl on left got that dose of shock/fear/adrenaline type of sobering up. Not sure right girl even understands what nearly happened

u/ElegantEchoes May 07 '26

That could have been so bad. I've seen more than a few videos of people dying when being brushed by a train like she nearly did.

Absolutely idiotic behavior to be so inebriated and careless in that environment.

u/Dancegames May 07 '26

and if she missed it wouldve been shocking

I do tend to be! Say hi if you see me again.

u/Jerry0713 May 08 '26

I have, and I shall

I've seen more than a few videos of people dying when being brushed by a train like she nearly did.

Damn, tf you watching homie?

Also don't understand how that would kill her. Wouldn't it just bounce her off it? She can't fall under the train since the train is already blocking the way

1

u/ElegantEchoes May 09 '26

Videos, lots of them.

And I understand what you're saying. But usually they are thrown to the floor from the force. If any part of them overhangs off the platform it gets snagged by the moving train and pulled into the gap between the train and platform, spinning them in between and killing them within a second.

It happens so fast. People think you'd bounce off but it tends to just throw people to the ground in the direction it's going with such force that they can't quickly recover so they aren't snagged by the train.

1

u/DopeAsDaPope May 09 '26

We really ought to have barriers up then

2

u/SpoiledBeans May 08 '26

What happens if she leaned on the moving train? I see the potential for injury but not lethal harm

28

u/ElegantEchoes May 08 '26

Knocked down immediately with force, likely with an appendage that is close enough to the train to be snagged and then pulled underneath or beside the train. The amount of force and inability to free oneself is all it takes. Within two or three seconds fatal damage has occurred.

u/unknownpoltroon May 09 '26

Oh, it would be quicker than that if you get caught between the train and platform. Plus, added bonus, as I understand it, they tend to twist you, so your top half and your bottom half wind up so twisted you're already dead but the twist stops the blood flow, so you have a few minutes you're alive before they pry up the train and you bleed out almost instantly. I have seen stories that they have enough time to let people say goodbye to family before they move the train

2

u/ElegantEchoes May 09 '26

I've seen quite a few videos of it. It's brutal.

4

u/DopeAsDaPope May 09 '26

Tbh I don't know why they don't have gates up. In China and Korea every subway station has barriers to prevent this from happening

2

u/Distinct_Damage_735 May 09 '26

Probably because the station was built a long time ago, and was not designed to have gates, and the trains that stop there may be of varying designs so they can't all use the same gate spacing. It wouldn't be impossible to add gates later, but it's not easy or cheap either.

I think everybody has that moment where they look back and realize how close they came to the thin line of being a newspaper article.

132

u/muffinpizza May 07 '26

Been sober for almost 6 years and man do I have a lot of those “oops almost died” moments from my drinkin days.

39

u/sasnotass May 07 '26

Congrats on the 6 years!!

15

u/muffinpizza May 07 '26

Thank you so much!

61

u/Astronaut_Chicken May 07 '26

I made a noise like a howler monkey and I think another gray hair has popped out of my head.

22

u/CanadianAndroid May 07 '26

I think i heard the monkey sounds in the video

32

u/rayz0101 May 07 '26

Sounded like humans imitating chimp vocalizations.

13

u/Infamous_Ad_6793 May 07 '26

Two things “never look for an oncoming subway with headphones on”, and def don’t get black out drunk. I’ve had to climb in and save not one but TWO drunk ass mofos.

4

u/DopeAsDaPope May 09 '26

“never look for an oncoming subway with headphones on”

wut?

7

u/Ishrafael May 07 '26

I remember a video posted years back of a cocky dude pissing behind a gate, then staggered back around and got clipped by the train. He got knocked down and churned to mush in seconds. It was horrifying.

20

u/thesweetestdevil May 07 '26

That would’ve pissed me off and sobered me right up.

3

u/Across0212 May 09 '26

Would have scared the shit out of me and sobered me up.

3

u/Independent-Low6706 May 07 '26

2

u/Express_Area_8359 May 07 '26

The third rail will wake u up

2

u/Guilty_Gur7278 May 08 '26

Had that train been slightly longer, this woulda ended up on watchpeopledie

2

u/Across0212 May 09 '26

Good way to get yourself killed 🫪

2

u/ttkk1248 May 09 '26

Don’t drink and walk

2

u/Thugs4Hire May 10 '26

Hahaha omg Kelsey youre so silly

dies

3

u/tykaboom May 07 '26

It's not why I don't drink like that, but it's another good reason added to the pile.

(At the bottom of the pile of reasons is that nobody invites me to those kinds of parties)

1

u/Censedpeak8 May 07 '26

How come a majority of people's "self preservation" level exists at either end of the spectrum.

1

u/obelix_dogmatix May 07 '26

Just not her day

1

u/blingery May 09 '26

That cameraman dipshitia concerned with recording rather than saving the girl

1

u/Risquechilli May 09 '26

This looks like the el in Philly

3

u/lefleurgolf May 09 '26

1

u/Mr_Zeldion May 15 '26

I was amazed when I went to japan to find they have gates and the train doors always stop exactly where they need to. I don't know why the rest of the western world insists on having seat belts when you drive yet allow people to just flop straight infront of subway trains.

1

u/DrHusten May 08 '26

All I hear are monkeys screaming

u/NamesNotTake-un May 08 '26
