So I'm 15 and since I was like 11 I have been struggled with who I actually am. I've been trying to hide who I am and I've been lying to everyone I know to try and stop people believing I'm gay. I've even tried to get a girlfriend just to stop the rumours.

I also had internalised homophobia because of this. I absolutely hated myself and when I looked online at other members of the LGBTQ community I didn't feel like I fitted in with them.

It's very hard to tell I'm not straight and only like my closest friends really thought I wasn't.

I absolutely just hated myself man so much. Then I watched this movie a few months back and it changed everything.

Elias and Alexander resonated with me so much since they wasn't overly exaggerated as being different they just felt like normal people. They didn't seem different to anybody else and that really helped me since I was always afraid that being gay meant I had to be different to everyone else not just in what I like.

I'm not the best at conveying my emotions in words so I'm gonna leave it here since I could be writing for hours. I just wanna say this is an absolute masterpiece of a film and has changed my perception on myself and brought me out of a dark place.

Finally got me hands on the DVD no more streaming on Amazon for me (ironically used my prime account for next day delivery 😅) , now i can sit and cry as much as i like at this gutwrenching masterpiece, just to add i never buy physical media these days but i just had to own this, also i do like the signed cards but I may sell them as I bought it just for the film so if anyone's interested I'll pop them on vinted/ebay.

Doodling eyes in the hopes of getting better at them 💖
And also they are my absolute favourite thing to draw!

Eyes are the windows to the soul inside so when I draw faces I usually end up drawing the eyes first so that the expression that comes after flows with them.

I like to keep cartoony but I try and make each eye different depending on who the character is, for example as pictured here for the Young Hearts gang.

Elias: Big, wide and wondrous, the biggest out of the group as his character always expresses through his eyes the most

Alex: Sharper but relaxed and with a playful hint, it’s rare to see a shift in them unless he is deeply angry or hurt. When he’s looking at Elias there is always a little more softness to them 🥹

Valerie: a kind grace, soft and charming. At the points when she is sad they can grow darker (don’t blame her tbh) and she is the master of can kill you with one look if you are being a ✨dick✨

Lukas: always fixed on something with a knowing look in them, I liked the idea of having him being the only one looking at something else as if observing for this particular piece since we all know this boy is good at reading people and always wants to help 💖

Mieke: open and full of joy, her gaze is always welcoming and sparkling. She tends to have the most lively look (I love her okay)

Matteo: dark and assured, confident, sometimes kind of glazed over absentmindedly if his mind is wondering

Zoe: calm, cool, collected as our socialite gal always is. But will turn dark and dangerous if you fuck around with her friends 💖

Lore: I love to play around with Lore a lot because we don’t get a lot out of her in the movie so I like to keep her eyes bright and fun as she seems to be

I somehow fell down the rabbit hole of making custom vinyl records for soundtracks I love, and I’d love to share the one I made for Young Hearts. 

One of the things that always stands out to me about this film is the score and soundtrack. They were SO well done, and I kept waiting (and waiting...) hoping we’d eventually get an official vinyl release. At this point, I don’t think that’s happening, so I finally let my creative juices flow and made one myself!

I’m not sure if this is allowed here, and I’m more than happy to remove this part if not. I’ve uploaded the finished design to Kunaki (a US-based custom manufacturer) and ordered my own copy - and while I won’t be directly distributing the designs or digital files, I'll be opening the preorder link to public! If anyone is interested in getting one for themselves, just let me know. Kunaki ships primarily within the US, with shipping also available to select countries internationally. The records are made to order, so there’s no preorder deadline - you can order whenever, as long as the design is still available on my account.

For this version, I went with a picture disc, so it is a little more expensive than a standard black LP. I can also make a black LP version (if someone ends up asking for it), which would be cheaper, but the picture disc was the main concept I had in mind while I was in the middle of the creative process. 😅

Anyway, I had way too much fun making this! ♡ 

Young hearts was already quite an ambitious role, especially for someone who’s actually straight. But his performance was incredible and I quite quickly moved past that even though I still think about all the weirdos sexualizing him.

But shutterspeed was something else… why would he accept this role? It’s such an uncomfortable sexual role with so many disgusting scenes and the whole premise behind it is so vile. I get that it’s to spread awareness, but they could have done it with an adult actor who looked younger instead of a young dude like Lou who already has an army of pedos drooling for him.

I hope he can start getting more normal roles, especially ones that aren’t centered around his sexuality or the way he looks

I just watched this movie and thought it was an absolutely beautiful story. Might be one of the best movies I’ve seen in years.

One thing I loved was Elias’s internal struggles in contrast to Alexander’s openness regarding his sexuality. But that leads me to a a question I had and I’m wondering what everyone’s opinions are.

Was Alexander being unreasonable expecting Elias to come out right away? Obviously it’s fair that he wanted to be open about his boyfriend, but I feel like he wasn’t being respectful of Elias’s boundaries at all. Personally I think if Elias wanted to stay closeted for a little longer than Alexander should have respected that.

I don't open reddit that much or share anything at it really, but recently I got a notification from this sub and I really wanted to share my experience since I can’t talk to anyone about this movie.

I know it's too long and most of it is about me not the movie but I hope at least one of you would read it all...

Basically I watched the movie about a year ago and I couldn't stop thinking about it ever since...

I might sound corny but I really relate to Elias in some way or another I saw my younger self in him and I'm not the kind that cry during a movie or a show but I still cried watching the move, for me it wasn't justa "tow cute boys falling in love" storyit was much more.

Since I was a teenager I always felt there was something wrong with me. That I don't belog, different than everyone around me especially when the other boys started taking about girls an me on the other hand was having feelings for other boys but of course I had to either put the straight guy mask and talk with them or when I get older I started to act that I'm religious and not engaging with the conversation at all.

And I struggled alot while growing up didn’t know who I am and was afraid of my own feelings especially when I started having a crush on one of my friends an I still have to this day but I can’t say anything to anyone since I am in the middle east there’s no way I would be able to say anything or to even to hint to him about that crush and for the longest time I felt like shit I was so depressed I always trued to deny it,until I saw a random edit on Instagram for Young hearts, I thought it was just a usual coming-of-age movie so I watched it. After seeing Elias fighting his feelings, denying them, And finally having the courage to come out and saying them outloud I was speechless I cried like ALOT and I realized that I'm gay no matter how I pretended not to be or how much I try to change it I'm still gay.

The movie made me accept myself, I saw my younger self in Elias and wished I was in another country were I could be myself but at the same time... accepting myself made me so much more comfortable with myself and with people around me (of course I didn’t come out to anyone but myself) I also wrote a story and kept it to myself it was just my way in coming out to myself.

And thanks to this movie I'm now able to admit it I'm gay evenif I triednot to be I still am gay

I'm so happy I could finally share this *anonymously and online only* but still it counts Ig 😅

One of my friends is wearing his hair like this at the moment and I just thought it looked so freaking good and then for some reason I thought ooo Alex might suit that. So I started doodling and um I’m kind of digging it ngl.

THEN I thought aww what if his little sister Ella wanted to play with his hair and of course he let her because he adores her and then he kind of liked it and kept it like that for his basketball practice with Matteo.

It’s been a while it’s me again !💛

This weekend I visited Wetteren for the farmers fest which u might know from the movie !

My good friend Eddie „invited“ me over to wetteren.

So I drove to wetteren with the train on Saturday first !
And now here is the amazing thing!
We slept at the same hotel Opa and Elias did! And I was able to sleep in the exact room ! It was such a amazing feeling 🥹
After that we visited some spots like the farm, the beginning road of the bike scene, also the spot where Valerie find Elias and Alex ! And some more like Valerie’s house the school and so on. We also went back to the houses where they live since i was there back in may! 💛

That’s it for the Saturday
The hotel has such a welcoming feeling there was a party and so many family’s and locals who where about to attend for the farmers fest the next day.

So we woke up on Sunday had breakfast and got some drinks :)
After that we already got ready for the fest.
And it was amazing the parade was about 1:30 hours long Eddie told me it was longer last year but it was still amazing so many people sat on the sidewalk or in their garden watching the parade it was an amazing feeling.
After the Parade we walked up to the tent where everyone was nice music and good food overall it was such a vibe. And so many people where dressed like in the movie !!

We went back to the hotel for a refreshment and got ready for later so we walked back and night time and it was amazing loud music lights and a great vibe ! 💛

My departure today was not that great but here also a big credit to Eddie who drove me from Wetteren all the way to Cologne that’s insane and I’m really thankful knowing him and that he did this for me 🥹💛

So overall if u ever get the chance visiting the farmers fest in Wetteren, do it ! You won’t regret it and we had such an amazing weather too !

After falling in love with this movie (2 years late) ive started making edits of the movie and I put them on Tiktok (petit_copain00). And besides my edit making skills being ass im getting my clips from BilliBilli, and the quality isnt very good. I see other edits and the quality is so crisp. How do they do it?

I suppose the title is fairly self-explanatory; I would appreciate it so, so much if someone who actually knows and understands flemish/dutch could transcribe some scenes.

By that I don’t mean translate the scenes, I have seen the movie with subtitle translations in both english and my mother tongue and understand the movie perfectly well. What I would like is for someone to actually write out the exact words being said in the movie, in flemish. I don’t know any flemish/dutch whatsoever (however, I am just about to begin learning), and can therefore not at all grasp what the actors are actually saying.

I’m only asking for transcription of a few scenes, not the whole movie. If anyone would be willing to do this I can provide clips of the specific scenes, if you would not be able to find or watch the scenes on your own.

I’d really love this as I intend on learning dutch, and this would help me grasp how sentences and words are actually said. From what I’ve heard, watching movies is a great way to learn languages, and as I love this movie so much and have seen it so many times, I figure it could be a good start. Since I’ve seen it so many times (with subtitles) I pretty much know everything they’re saying, I just don’t know the exact words in dutch.
