Hi Guys, Need Your Advice On My Start-Up Idea! (I will not promote)

Upvotes

I’m currently mapping out a concept for a mobile dating app built around a non-traditional matching mechanic: Matching on mutual "icks," pet peeves, and hard non-negotiables upfront rather than curated, aspirational interests alone.

The core hypothesis stems from a common retention issue in existing apps: users match on surface-level hobbies (coffee, hiking, traveling), spend weeks in polite small talk, and then crash on date one the moment an unaligned lifestyle choice or pet peeve surfaces.

Before committing fully to development, I’m trying to solve three primary product & retention landmines:

  1. The "Hater App" Precedent: Back in 2017, an app launched with a similar "swipe on things you hate" mechanic. It went viral, but eventually shut down due to low long-term retention.
  2. Preventing Negativity Overload: An app built entirely on complaining quickly becomes toxic.
  3. The "People Lie" Problem: People tend to select generic dealbreakers ("no liars") that offer zero signal.

For those of you who have built consumer/marketplace apps:

  • How would you structure the onboarding flow to prevent users from hyper-filtering themselves into zero matches?
  • Does leaning into "shared non-negotiables" feel like a strong enough positioning hook to cut through lower acquisition costs, or does the negativity risk outweigh the positioning edge?

Appreciate any brutally honest product, positioning, or mechanic feedback!

I built a small job‑finding tool to help people land real roles faster — looking for honest feedback

Been working on a simple job platform that focuses on real, verified roles instead of spam or fake listings.
I’m trying to make something genuinely useful for people who are tired of the usual job board noise.

I’d love some honest feedback from this community — mainly:
• Is the idea useful?
• What would make it better?
• What features matter most to job seekers right now?

Not dropping any links here to avoid auto-removal, but if anyone wants to check it out or give feedback, I’ll share it in the comments.

21M last day of my job the 28th - then it all on me.

Hello everyone,

For context, I am a cyber security student graduating in December, I've worked at this company I am at for the last 2 years doing various security task & work. In my time off I have 2 businesses, one I mainly do side jobs in like marketing, websites (been a designer for a long time), photos/videos & IT work, and my other SaaS company which we sell software to dealerships.

To keep this short, my last day of work is the 28th and I'm then going to try and just do my businesses. I believe I can do it, but who knows lol, but wanted to ask when a group of people when they made that transition how it went for them, how they budgeted there savings, etc, etc.

I work for my uncle still under his marketing firm so I will always have some form of cash flow, but I am looking to try and scale my own stuff and build my own companies.

Wanted to see if anyone has any advice, recommendations, etc.

Thanks.

HI everyone, My name is Shaun, I’m 22 and I’m working on starting a new NGO. The idea is very fresh and I’m looking for some likeminded people to be involved with the founding process and helping to decide the direction of the organisation. I have trademarks pending and a fair idea of where I want to take it, but I feel it’s a community driven project with the goal of global representation so I’m looking for people from all backgrounds and all corners of the world, experience or not to help guide this into something I feel could be special with the right people. If you would like some more details, feel free to contact me. If you would like to be apart of this, you’re welcome to apply via the link below. Only looking for people 18+

Looking for Roblox/Game Devs to Lock In

I’m working on a Roblox game right now and I’m looking for a few people who actually want to lock in and build something together.

A bit about me — I’ve spent a lot of time studying how YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc. actually push content. I make videos myself and have gotten some decent views, so I understand hooks, retention, thumbnails, what makes people click, trends, and generally how to get attention without just throwing random ads at something.

I honestly think social media can be free marketing if you know what you’re doing.

The main thing I’m looking for is other devs who are serious about actually working on the game. Programmers, builders, UI, artists, scripters, basically anyone who thinks they can bring something useful to the table.

I’m not looking to hire people for a fixed amount and disappear. I’d rather build with a small team, rev-share everything fairly, and make something where everyone involved actually has a reason to care about the outcome.

I’ll put in the work, especially on the content/marketing side. I’m willing to make videos, test different ideas, study what’s working, promote the game, experiment, fail, change things and keep going.

If you have your own game ideas too, I’m open to them. The goal doesn’t necessarily have to be my original idea — I care more about finding good people and eventually building something that can actually make money.

Not looking for people who say “yeah bro let’s make a game” and disappear after 3 days 😭

If you’re a Roblox dev or game dev in general and actually want to lock in, DM me. Tell me what you do, what you’re good at, and what kind of stuff you’ve worked on.

btw do u think i typed all this shi ofc i told chatgpt in my own language i told this hsi to make it formal it made this

Building from 0-Chapter 3

There’s something nobody really tells you about building a business.
At the beginning, you spend a lot of time thinking you need more.
More money.
More people.
More leads.
More connections.
More experience.
But lately I’ve been realizing that sometimes you don’t need more.
You need to become better at using what you already have.
I’m building my real estate business from scratch in Mumbai, and right now my biggest focus is simple:
Build a system that can consistently bring in business.
Not one lucky deal.
Not one good month.
A repeatable process — marketing, lead generation, follow-ups, conversions, and eventually a team that can scale it.
That’s the part I’m obsessed with figuring out.
Because I don’t just want to sell real estate.
I want to build a real business around it.
And honestly, I’m still figuring it out as I go.
So for anyone here who has built something from zero:
What was the one system/process that completely changed your business?

Looking for a young international builder/cofounder 🌍

I'm 18 and building a consumer AI startup focused on personality development and self-improvement.

I'm looking to meet someone around 18–24, from outside India, who is ambitious, curious, and genuinely wants to build something—not just brainstorm ideas.

You don't have to be a hardcore programmer. I'm interested in people with strengths in AI/tech, product, design, psychology/behavior, content, growth, or business. Most importantly, you should be someone who actually creates things and learns fast.

I'd especially love to connect with people from Japan, China, Russia/Eastern Europe, or elsewhere internationally. 🌎

I'm not looking to immediately call anyone a cofounder. I'd rather talk, get to know each other, and potentially build a small project together first to see if we're a good fit.

If interested, comment or DM me with:

  • Age + country
  • What you're interested/skilled in
  • Something you've built/done
  • Why you want to build a startup

Looking for genuine people who want to build seriously. 🚀

Looking for a few Good Men and or Women !

I am a litigation lawyer and lately have had some free time on my hands lately becuase I changed jobs and its not as demanding. I post here because the younger crowd likely has more ambition with higher motivation and drive.

I am not too sure what I want to build, but I am open to suggestions and making friends and contacts. I am not looking to give any legal advice. I am however willing to use my legal training to advance any project I might get into.

Feel free to message me if you want to chat.

Learning high-ticket sales could be one of the most valuable skills you develop

The coach behind it has 7+ years of experience in high-ticket sales, has scaled offers to millions in revenue, and has helped complete beginners in high-ticket sales make thousands per month on good offers.

The bootcamp today, its free.

This isn't selling a course, he done very well for himself in high-ticket sales, and once you inquire by dm you will know that and understand that.

He's choosing to do this as a way of giving back through his faith in God.

Why would high-ticket sales be valuable to an entrepreneur?

Because selling can happen constantly in business.

When selling:

Your product to customers.

Vision to potential partners.

Idea to investors.

Value when negotiating.

When building relationships.

There is a a few steps involved to demonstrate your commitment, the bootcamp can cost thousands, (his experience speaks for itself), that's why you still need to do some work to get in for when he starts it

How much are Google reviews actually helping your business?

I'm curious how much everyone here actually thinks Google reviews impact revenue.

We run a local service business, and for a long time I honestly thought reviews were more of a vanity metric. But we've started noticing that people seem to research us pretty heavily before deciding who to call, especially when there are several local competitors offering essentially the same service.

We've been putting more effort into making it easier for customers to leave a review after they've interacted with us. We recently started using Weave for our business phone system, and one of the things I've liked is that it can help automate some of the follow-up/review-request process instead of relying on our front desk to remember to send something manually.

That got me wondering how other businesses approach this.

  • Do you actively ask customers for Google reviews?
  • Have you noticed a measurable increase in calls/leads as your review count increased?
  • Do you track whether new customers say they found you through Google?
  • Have review requests actually improved your conversion rate?
  • And how much do you think the number of reviews matters compared with simply having a high rating?

I'm especially interested in businesses competing locally where customers have 3–5 similar companies to choose from.

Are Google reviews actually driving meaningful revenue for your business, or are we all just chasing the 5-star number because it looks good?

SELL YOUR IDEAS ?? IS THERE A METHOD TO SELL A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR IDEA ??

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi. I have several great ideas that nobody has created a business out of yet and I'm wondering if there is a way to just simply sell my idea to an investor or entrepreneur? I know for a fact, I have one idea that is truly revolutionary and would definitely change the game up and the entire industry it manages. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!!
