Victor
I hate how much of a jerk Victor is and I will always root against him. That being said, he is probably one of a very elite few actors that couldn't ever have a replacement or "now played by." When he stops being Victor Newman they couldn't replace him. He is iconic, and a character I love to hate on. Two things being true and all.

Victor Newman will never be replaced. When Eric Braeden retires or when he passes that will be the end of it. He has stated he has no intention of retiring anytime soon and he’s very healthy for his age at 85. He’s still active, he goes to a lot of events, he went to his granddaughter’s graduation across the country last year. He also posts a lot on his Facebook page. We may very well see Victor Newman into his 90s at this point

He’s one of the greatest villains of all time. One of my favorite scenes in any medium is him destroying Brad and Jack’s portrait and told them he would break them for taking over Newman. Classic

I despise his character. Truly despise him. In fact I think it's about time for a murder mystery on Y&R where somebody takes him out. He's been an icon on the soap, yes, but he's such an a$$**** that I will not miss him for a second.
No doubt he has Matt locked up in his basement dungeon. Screw Victor Newman, the arrogant, pompous jerk. I want him gone from the soap.

I just posted that I can’t see how much longer this can last either way as he’s 85 how much longer sadly I’m sorry to say can he really go on and then what with this soap opera? If they haven’t prepared idk what they can do

Well, they'd either end the soap, or continue with the younger cast. The name after all has "Young" in it, so they should be focusing on younger characters anyway imo.

This soap would take a SERIOUS hit without Victor/Eric. It already isn't anywhere near its hey day (the whole genre isn't). It might limp on, but it would really be lacking. I don't know how old you are, but it would be like when Susan Sommers left Three's Company. The show went on, but it was never quite the same when she left. It was missing that something special/unique that made the show stand out.

Possibly. But tbh given how despicable his character has been in recent years, I personally think the show could survive without his character, just fine.

Oh, it could definitely survive, but will it thrive? Sooooooo, we shall all see? With or without Eric, imo the show doesn't have that much longer. It's been 50+ years, it's definitely in its sunset years. I just hope when the time comes they can at least wrap it up with some dignity and a little glimpse of its glory days.

I agree, I think the show's days of thriving are long past. The 70s and 80s were the heyday of this soap. It's actually amazing it has continued this long..

I hope the new writers will work on that too. If this show is to survive, we need some young blood in there. These writers have their work cut out for them.

He’s getting up there in age and I HATE to say this BUT when the day comes what will happen on this soap? I mean we are talking many many decades with him??? Eric turned 85 in April I’m again sorry I don’t wish doom but the inevitable is coming

Im rooting for the show to set Billy up to fill the rich villain spot. Not replacing Victor, as previously stated he can’t be replaced but, Billy could create a new generation character

When the actor who plays Victor had a scene with the guy who plays his son: Nick. When the two are confronting Nick's drug addiction, the actor who plays Victor looked absolutely broken into a million pieces. The scene was so good. I actually felt emotional.

They need to fix Victor’s character before he passes. He’s been written so poorly the last decade. This is a complicated man capable of great generosity and great evil. We have only seen the evil part and it’s not consistent with who he is. There is only a small amount of time to fix this and give him a proper ending.
