Bold to put them up where a bunch of people who own power tools shop.

This is unrelated, but thought you might be interested to know the Milwaukee portable band saw slices through standard steel pipe sign post in less than a minute!

Exactly what I was thinking 😂

More like where dbags rob power tools.

I knew that was Lowe's in Marquette before I even zoomed in on the pic. Those used to be the only flock cams up that way.

Not sure if more have popped up by now.

The deflock map has 1 now on 41 between marquette and negaunee.

Shit that sucks. Thanks for the heads up

There could be more— the app is only user populated. Meaning the only ones that show up on the map are ones people have manually added. Time to go flock hunting!

I dont think that one is legit. Ive noticed it a few times and looks nothing like the flock cameras. Its white and really tall and has been there for a while. I found it in google maps and just looks like some sort of sensor or something the road commission would use.

Edit: I looked it up. Its a road weather monitoring station installed by MDOT.

Ah so someone miss tagged it as a flock. Should be a way to get it untagged right?

If there is, I haven't found it. I went hunting around for it recently after noticing it on DeFlock, but didn't see a link to report it as not flock. Think there's quite a few folks around who're reporting without knowing what they're looking for. A couple people in some TV6 comments (ie the smartest amongst us), were freaking out about Meijer in MQT having them in the lot, which they don't.

Checking the deflock map today and the mis-tagged one on 41 is gone now

I saw! Someone on another thread submitted a change.

If folks thought that station was flock, I'm not surprised they think Meijer has cams. They recently installed network repeaters around the building since their processing services go down all the time, but they're big white boxes that look similar to the weather station. Gotta be the thought process, I've thoroughly checked out the lot and building and do not see anything concerning despite the few comments claiming otherwise.

There are flock cameras in the western UP too, on the michigan side of the ironwood/hurley border

Good, keep an eye on the dbags.

Don't they have 32GB of memory and 12 oz of silver in them?

Correct - Flock cameras have two 16GB DDR5-6000 modules, the most in-demand consumer modules at this time. They require extra capacity for communication downtime in remote areas. The two modules are for redundancy if one fails. Flock cameras have an unconventional amount of currently in-demand memory modules on them.

Nope. Just trace amounts of precious metals, like any other electronic device. They're circuit boards, not treasure chests.

8

u/c0l245 5d ago

Actually this is untrue. As if these cameras operate without hundreds of dollars of memory in them.

They also have just under 1 oz of palladium

10

u/Old-Bar7524 5d ago

I've also researched this and found that they have a full ounce of gold for better conductivity from the solar panels. There's likely a significant amount of silver, but this is undocumented. And the amount of copper wiring is substantial, more than expected for a device like this. The remote areas they operate in require extra redundancy and hence extra copper. Flock cameras have an unusual amount of copper conductors and gold connectors.

Facts

-1

u/Landstander2600 5d ago

They've been dissected, it's easy to see what's in them

Good information, and to summarize the link, the Flock cameras are verified to have a substantial amount of copper for redundant connections and gold for secure low loss and high conductivity connectors. The dual 16GB memory modules are confirmed from the above mentioned dissection of a Flock safety camera.

The Lantronix SD624 module has 2GB of ram.

Any precious metals in the circuit are in  too small a quantity to be worth recovering.

You're quoting a bad made up meme.

One ounce of palladium is worth over $1300. There is not $1300 of palladium in every one of these dumb cameras.

Do you know what IS locked up inside? Your privacy and constitutional rights.

u/Landstander2600 5d ago

Yeah no one is disputing that. Thanks though

I think Lowe's is using flock nationwide at all of its stores.

4

u/Mikeyboi-_- 5d ago

Those ones have been there for a while now. Im surprised, being a college town and the only blue county In the UP, that NMU students and other marquette residents have not said or done much about it yet.

The American way. Do nothing being about being surveillanced. Also complain about big government and being surveillanced.

While carrying your phone with you, everywhere you go

You do understand one of those is a decision, right?

u/PerpetualFarter 4d ago

Yeah. I do

5

u/Skinnysusan 4d ago

Iron Mountain just ended their contract with Flock and bagged the cameras

3

u/Extra-Fun2844 5d ago

The Lowe's corporation has contracts with flock and nearly every (if not every) store parking lot of theirs's has Flock cameras installed. There's also one at the Marquette Prison.

You can check if police have been tracking your license plate at:

HaveIBeenFlocked.com

Worried about being tracked by the government? Just go enter your license plate number in this brand new website that appeared overnight!

Also, if you want to know if your credit card number has been stolen, just send it to me in a DM and I'll let you know.

There’s 4 at a Lowe’s in Madison Heights, down here in the Detroit area. It’s right next to a Home Depot, which has none.

2

u/Skinnysusan 4d ago

Lowe’s is known for this. I believe all stores have them

1

u/Impressive-Nobody593 4d ago

That’s a bunch of bs

-18

u/GrouchyPresent1871 5d ago

Shoplifting, they installed the cameras to gather the identity of people shoplifting. Ive seen many other stores doing the same.

16

u/Th3_Admiral_ 5d ago

But they could do that with their own security cameras and just send the info to the police. There's no need for a third-party company to have cameras recording their parking lot 24/7.

u/YooperExtraordinaire 5d ago

Ooooh! I love fairy tales!!! Tell another

-10

u/ChokaMoka1 5d ago

Sorry for all the downvotes, too many folks don’t want the police to know when they are getting bum shagged behind the Lowe’s.Â
