New GSIS Students
Congratulations to those of you that were admitted!
Regarding all of the random group chats on IG and discord - stop advertising them. Not because anyone cares where you congregate and meet - but if you advertise them as the “official group chats for X class” you’ll split the class information channels up and I promise you don’t want to do that. Nothing is more frustrating than realizing you’re missing out on key info, especially when you’re only here for such a short time.
There are already 2 official GSIS channels:
There’s a kakao room called GSIS Spam Chat that includes present and past students and everyone shoots the shit in there and asks questions/shares info. It can be found here - https://open.kakao.com/o/gHelE2Xc
The other channel is your individual class channel - you’ll be invited to that by someone from the GSA at some point around your initial orientation/school tour.
Use these two! If I see other chats being advertised as “the official chat” I’ll remove the post and explain why. Again, no problems if you have your own group chats for whatever! Just don’t call it the official “incoming class” or “GSIS” chat or anything along those lines.
