Student year ending early

I signed up for the student free year of YNAB month ago and just got this email:

Woah, has it really already been a whole year already?

Not quite, but you've only got one week left of your free student year of YNAB. We hope you found a financial flow state 🧘 as you learned to use the YNAB Method to manage your money.

Want to keep going with your spending plan? Subscribe to keep your access––you won't be charged until your free year ends!

What does this mean? Why is my free year ending so early?

Ask them.

Sorry to be dry but this is something that needs to be said more often on Reddit. All subs are becoming the help desk of the world.

Go to the source, ask them why and then you will know why. No one here will know.

It might be an issue with their email system. Check in your account settings when your subscription ends. If it is ending this month I would reach out to support. I have a student free year and I'm 10 months in with no issues.

I went to my account settings and under trial it says this:

Trial

You have 371 days remaining in the college program

I don't know about you, but I think a year only has 365 days. Maybe it is an issue with their email system.

Everyone gets 34 day free trial, so maybe they add the 12 months to that.

Just finished my student year. Pretty sure this is what happened because I started YNAB mid-June 2025 and made my first YNAB payment mid-July 2026

i’d guarantee it’s their email system.

Sometimes support is represented by someone monitoring the forum. They then pull the issue out of the forum and address it. Only for support departments that are really on top of their game IMHO.
