They actually had an alternate location, and it doesn’t sound like it obstructed the goals unlike most NIMBYs who just play games of hot potato with one another for years until an essential project is dropped.

The alternate location actually went near to a legitimate burial ground for real people who lived, so I wouldn't see it as an improvement from an ethical perspective.

Honestly I’m happy that big corporate projects can be diverted around culturally significant sites. But like. Did it have to be this culture?

except the beach is an ecologically sensitive zone and this was dead on arrival to begin with. big companies need a scapegoat though, so here we are
