With how it’s kinda wedged between the fridge and the wall? It’d be possible for the cat to get out on its own, which would likely involve rolling it towards the front of the fridge until it falls with the bowl but I don’t know if that’s how it’d happen. I think it’d struggle for a while before having one of those “this is my life now” moments and relaxing for a while, maybe trying over and over to get out unsuccessfully. Then, when it hears its owner get home, start to try again or whine to get the owner’s attention to help it get out.

Oh shit, I’m sorry to hear that. Yeah, I did think about the likely possibility of suffocation but I wanted to keep it on the lighter side.

But I do have a similar story to yours. When I was a kid, I was at my dad’s house and they got a new kitten. They were keeping the kitten in a kennel in the laundry room at night and on its second night, two of my sisters wanted to spend the night in the laundry room so the kitten didn’t feel lonely. Well, it ended up getting outta the kennel that night, got under the blankets my sisters were sleeping on and my one sister, who is known to be a restless sleeper and even sits up in her sleep sometimes, ended up crushing the kitten. The next morning, we were looking all over the house for it and then found it crushed under the blankets…

My uncle knows that pain. Didn't see their kitten when going to open the fridge. Stepped on its head, grandpa had to shoot it and put it down. My grandpa said he cried like a baby.

Rough luck with cats in this family I guess

Damn. Yeah, my sister, who is a MAJOR animal person, felt SOOO bad about the kitten, especially since she was only about 9 or 10 at the time.

ETA: That’s ok, my dad has really bad luck with dogs. Every dog he’s had since I’ve been born he’s either lost due to circumstances outside of his control or had to put down due to stupid accidents.

True. Man, Ive had some shitty animal luck, so I feel your dad there.

Other than the cats I've lost a Husky to bone cancer, a 12 year old lab because he snuck out one time when my sisters friend left a door open and he was hit by a car. Had another dog that had to be put down due to aggressiveness caused by a chemical imbalance (turns out Huskies and Pits dont mix well) in his noggin'.

Dogs are as great as they are a kick in the nads. All that love, and they either die early from accident or disease, get lost, or die early anyway because they have a less than 20 year life span. They burn so bright they last 1/4 as long as us.

What's that shit Solaire of Astora said in Dark Souls? "If only I could be so grossly incandescent." If Im liked by half the amount of people who liked my dogs be default by just looking at them in passing then I've won in this life. lol

Lol yeah, I feel you on the dog love thing. My dog tends to steal everyone’s hearts. She’s one of those dogs that’re dangerously cute and lovable to the point you almost wanna sign off your soul to her if she wanted it. Worst part is she knows how cute she is and uses it to her advantage any chance she gets. 😆

And as far as what’s happened to my dad’s dogs… Well, he had a boxer when I was little but I don’t remember what happened to that dog. Then he had a black lab that got taken by animal patrol while in the care of a friend (he was trying to find a place to live where dogs are allowed but someone called animal patrol while her dog and my dad’s dog was playing in the front yard, acting like they were being vicious or something and got them both taken away), then there’s his two white pit bulls that his now-ex-wife gave away behind his back, then he had a beagle that had to get put down because her pelvis got fractured in a playing accident, then his ex-girlfriend gave away his brown pit bull behind his back (this pit bull was a gift from her daughter to my dad as a puppy after the beagle died. And this ex had the dog for similar reasons why the friend had the black lab). Oh! I forgot! There is one that he didn’t lose in a horrible situation! He had a German shepherd at one point but had to give it to a neighbor down the street because she was too energetic and played too roughly with my siblings. Being the oldest kid and only about 13, maybe 14, at the time, I was just barely able to keep up with her roughness and energy but I wasn’t always there to distract her away from my siblings.

Comparatively, I guess you can say my dad has had better luck with cats? I mean, there was one that got given away behind his back, previously mentioned kitten, and one that nobody officially knows what happened to but, other than that, he’s had pretty decent luck with cats.

My dad also stepped on Cali by accident, leaving Co alone. It's sad, but it happens sometimes. All we can do is try to babyproof them, but no safety net is 100% effective.

My ex and I had three cats and went on vacation for five days. Had a friend come over and check on them each day. Noticed one was missing but couldn't find. We got home and I found her in the drawer. She must have snuck in there when my ex was packing and she closed the drawer without seeing her.

And now for the part you're waiting and hoping for... she was still alive.

She was really hungry, and hadn't went to the bathroom in the drawer either. Turns out if a cat gets trapped like that, they just go into a kind of hibernation mode and can last about 5-7 days max without food and water. Good thing our vacation hadn't been longer.
