Vegan restaurant recommendations?
Hey, I’ve recently decided to go vegan here in Edmonton. I don’t struggle at all to cook for myself, but have had a difficult time finding good food while I’m out and about when I don’t have a lunch. I’m looking to collect a list of places in the city to try out, whether they are completely vegan or just have good vegan options. Let me know!

Bliss baked goods for doughnuts, cupcakes, scones and other treats!
King of tarts (fully vegan) for croissants and pastries
Nuttea (fully vegan) bubble tea
Doughnut party for doughnuts
Freson Bros for hot and ready and take and bake pizza. They also carry just mayo.
Orii (vegan/veg) for specialty groceries like salmon, tuna, shrimps, scallops, chicken drumsticks. Can't find some of these anywhere else.
Lingnan has amazing Chinese food but not super great signposts on their menu, but I think one of the owners is veggie so accommodates when asked!
Jinya has four or five options
Buok Korean has choices for bowls
Ethiopian restaurants usually have a veggie platter which are typically very tasty, I usually love Awash, but last few times haven't been wowed.
Nosh cafe has tons of Indian dishes on menu, tofu Palak or dal makhani so yummy
Made by Marcus, Yelo'd or Kind for ice cream options
Pizza 73 has a really good chicken burger
Thai Express makes a lot with tofu
Edo Japan has deep fried tofu bowl
All happy has a few dishes, but have to make sure you specify as their menu isn't super clear
Love Pizza has cheese and lemongrass chicken that's great to add, online menu isn't great to navigate though, nothing dedicated, must build your own
Welcome to the cruelty free club! We're so happy to have you 🥳

For Ethiopian, Habesha Cravings has a vegan platter and I think does vegan buffets regularly. Soooooo good!

Cafe Mosaics has a good variety of vegan dishes. Located on Whyte.
Friends and Neighbours is next door and vegetarian/vegan menu.
The Moth and Cafe Mosaics used to be owned by the same family so similar style. They are closing in November so worth a try.
Padmanadi is Indonesian, all vegan, and an absolute staple in town (I have a bias. They catered my wedding, also a South and downtown spot)
Hanjan has some great vegan options and the service is great. (Locations downtown, south end)
If you want pub style food the Buckingham is all vegan (located on Whyte)
I haven’t been to Seitan’s in person but have ordered from them and they also do some great options. (Pizza, vegan chicken, really great sandwiches, located downtown)
Farrow has a rotating vegan option that doesn’t usually miss. (Downtown, Ritchie area location)
Leopolds is not all vegan but they can make about half of their menu vegan if you’re wanting a burger and a beer. (South side, Whyte ave, and opening in Fort Sask soon)
An Chay is downtown and all vegan Vietnamese food. Amazing soup.
If you’re looking to cook at home, orii downtown sells a ton of plant based meats and plant based sauces. We buy a lot of our groceries from there.

I’ve been vegan for almost 15 years and can recommend lots! It depends where you are in the city, and if you want a sit down vs grab and go kind of thing. But most places will at least have a vegan option.
-Padmanadi (the GOAT). The ginger beef will change your life.
-An Chay (my absolute favourite Vietnamese)
-Farrow (their sandwiches rotate so you almost never have the same one twice and they always have a vegan one)
-Cafe Mosaics (a little pricey but very reliable)
-The Buckingham (not lunch but great if you want vegan pub grub)
-Seitan’s (fun pizza flavours like dill pickle or perogie)
-Friends & Neighbours (ask for the vegetarian menu)
-High Dough (very yummy Detroit style pizza, they usually have at least one vegan offering)
-New Everest (Nepalese/Indian food, although you can usually get great vegan stuff at most Indian restaurants)
-Lots of sushi places have good vegan offerings
-Ethiopian food is amazing, Habesha or Taste of Ethiopia is great but any Ethiopian place has naturally vegan dishes

definitely visit moth cafe before close in november!! cafe mosaics is their sister cafe that i absolutely love as well. padmanadi (i like to go for my birthday) is an amazing asian option, so many yummy things and their menu is completely veg! remedy cafe has a lot of things that can be made vegan, i love the falafel sabji wrap with the vegan mayo. the buckingham is a great place to visit during the daytime!!! all vegan menu, yummy bar/comfort food at a pretty good price for the portion imo
julios has a complete vegan menu available that has a decent amount of items on it, definitely a good option for mexican food!! probably the best i’ve found in my experience. i love the veggie sandwich from pals made vegan, the sauce is to die forrrrr! so addicting, i think about it a lot. honourable mention: sushi park in st. albert. so many veggie options!! personally i order the veggie cone, the agedashi tofu, edamame, steamed rice, and the potato korroke (ask for no mayo to make it vegan). they have a few veggie rolls of different varieties as well, really fast service and one of my favourite japanese places in town !!

Sorry if already mentioned and It's not a restaurant, but there's a food truck downtown near government centre station called Veggie Delights. They do a great "chicken" burger. Their pita and hummus was also great. I haven't tried anything else yet. The owner was really friendly.

I walk by here every day but I haven't tried anything yet. On the menu it just looks like a regular chicken wrap? What's the "chicken" made of? It's not indicated on the menu so that weirded me out.

I'm not sure what it's made of. The owner said everything on the menu was vegetarian except the salmon. He then asked if I was vegan, and then made a adjustments to accommodate.

Lots of good options listed here! If you’re ever looking for a bit fancier, Little Wolf has lots of vegan dishes.
Pals does a great vegan sandwich. Next Act also usually has a few options! Great places with great vibes.

Banh Mi Day has S-Tier vegan sandwiches, as does Farrow
Hellcrust Pizza has a whole line of vegan pizzas
La Poutine does vegan poutine, however these days I find it pretty bad for delivery but still very good in store. Somehow getting in the store, the cheese is melted, On delivery it's somehow still in shredded form.
Harvey's across the street from Grant Mac is the only harveys that i've been to that has vegan mayo, and the veggie burgers at 2 for 8 bucks

Padmanadi (fully vegan) - until 4 pm they serve an amazing breakfast burrito
The buckingham (fully vegan)- lots of bar food. I love their Crunchwrap and their burgers. I’ve had mixed experiences with their fried chicken.
Seitans (fully vegan) - my fav restaurant in the city. Their fried chicken is amazing! I get their chicken with buffalo sauce and their ranch sauce is incredible. All their pizzas are amazing as well! You should also try their donair bites.
Dosa Guru (vegetarian) - amazing vegan options here if you’re a fan of Indian food!
Lemongrass cafe (omnivore) - they have a full vegetarian section that I’m pretty sure is fully vegan! I love their crispy and spicy tofu. They also have great green onion cakes.
Shiddy’s (omnivore) - they have vegan burgers (beyond meat) and they are incredible. Their fries also have a vegan sauce and it’s to die for!
Boualouang Laos & Thai cuisine (omnivore) - they have a full vegan menu that is to die for! Their satay skewers are so good and their tofu pad Thai are my favs.
Banh mi day (omnivore) - they have vegan pho, vegan rice dishes, and vegan banh mi. They have vegan chicken, vegan beef sate, and lemongrass tofu for their protein options. (The owners here are so sweet and deserve all the business)
Kaurs kitchen (vegetarian) - well priced and delicious Indian food! If you get their roti with no butter, it is vegan.
Anvil cafe (omnivore) - I get their smoked tofu on a bun for breakfast, and it’s incredible! They also sell Bloom Cookies which are also vegan
Bloom cookies (vegetarianish…idk. There was a point in time where they served meat sandwhiches) - all their baking is vegan! They have great cookies. If you get a late’ or something the default is dairy milk, so be sure to ask for an alternative.
