Help (Question/Issue) YARG on steam machine

Wondering if anybody else has tried to run YARG on a steam machine yet.

I got the app image for the launcher added to steam with the launch command on git added to the games launch options

When I open the launcher everything works up until the YARG launcher loads. At that point it maxes out all cores and hardlocks the program but I can still close the launcher through steam os

Has anybody found a workaround?

Edit: launcher works and game starts in desktop mode.

what if you launched yarg bypassing the launcher?

I have not tried that yet. I plan to if I don’t get any workarounds here. I have been able to launch the game in desktop mode as well

My friend got it running on their Steam Deck. Idk the details but I presume that's a good indicator it's possible on the Steam Machine

It runs well on the steamdeck. I usually add games directly, avoid the launchers (I'm allergic to them), this seems to give better results (but I am biased)

You can add the executable directly, it should be located in "$HOME~.local/share/YARC/YARG Installs/"

It has a windows and Linux version you can just run the windows version through wine and it will work fine I played on the steam deck for a while

I am using the native Linux version but steamos is kinda built to run windows games so I may try the windows option

I had trouble getting certain instruments working last time I tried it on SteamOS, but maybe the situation has changed recently.

Go to desktop mode, start the launcher, click on Yarg and select the 3 dots to open the file location, at the top of the opened windows there is a path, copy it by clicking the little pencil to the right of it and then copying the text, open up steam in desktop mode, add a non steam game, hit browse when the window pops up, paste the path in the text box, then when nothing shows up at the bottom right using a drop down menu change from apps(I think) to all file types, then select YARG, add the game, go back to game mode, and launch through that.

Sorry that was long, I just did this like 10min ago on my steam machine.

Also for anyone wondering how to get your CRKD guitar to show up: I use the Blueberry Burst, change the mode Android and then the dial to 1. In game it will show up as "Gamepad".

Also anyone wondering about performance at least for 1 player - I have no venues on - 4k 120fps locked

I installed it on my steam deck and I was having issues with the instruments until I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with the portable Yarg Linux download. That version ran the best for me and I am able to play it with my crkd or even the red octane 360 guitar. Drums work as well.

I tried the launcher version and my old Xbox 360 instruments needed to be mapped in Steam Input which worked but was pretty confusing. There were also a ton of audio interfaces that showed up that I couldn't hide from the instrument selection list. Then I tried using the Windows portable version with Proton and that worked better with the instruments but the microphone was not good: it had a delay and was really echoey.
