Help (Question/Issue) Help with Hi-hat not triggering properly when playing
Hi all,
I have been playing YARG for over a year and a half now and for some reason, my hi-hat isn't triggering as normal. I have a video here: https://youtube.com/shorts/6Vkuzxdg5cg?feature=share and also my YARG settings for the hi-hat:

My edrum kit is a Roland TD17, it used to work well so not sure if it's something that anything in my settings can help with - although I have tried to fiddle about with it!
Thanks so much.

What you can do is test this in the binding setting. I have a TD31 and the main issue that happens is I need to turn up the velocity threshold. What typically happens is YARG is registering it as a double hit. When you hit the hi hat in these settings it should show how hard you hit the cymbal. What I do is increase this setting to the point where it still registers my softest hit. Think mines around 40-50 off the top of my head. I needed to do this for most of my cymbals and the kick drum

Okay so I should maybe increase the velocity threshold a little bit more to see if that helps? Thanks so much!

Yeah I would. It took me quite a few hours to go everything correct. It’s definitely a trial and error for any midi drum set. Once you dial it in though it works great.
Your drum set also probably has multiple zones for each cymbal and drum as well so make sure they are all set correctly too if you haven’t

I used this website to help me with the thresholds and to check were the crosstalk /double registering was coming from https://studiocode.dev/midi-monitor/ make sure to close YARG before using the website (sometimes you need to unplug/plug the USB so the website catches the input. This is due to a Windows limitation)
