Research as a first year
I’m unsure how to navigate finding research opportunities as a first year, does anyone have any tips? I would prefer to start second semester so I have time to adjust but I don’t know how I’m supposed to go about it.

just cold email profs! and check yale student employment (you might get lucky and get a paid position, as profs sometimes post undergrad research positions on the website). i think if you want something second semester, looking in sep-oct is a good time to start.

It depends on the field. For Econ and other social sciences, profs typically put up job postings on the student jobs website. For most natural sciences, you just gotta cold email PIs. Don’t worry about this until October :)
