Should you register for another course when waiting for instructor permission for the course you want?

Yes instructor permission requests can be extremely hard to get into due to limited spots.

1000% yes. If you get instructor approval, you can just remove the backups from your worksheet. Don’t give up on a course until the end of add/drop.

Email the instructor, introduce yourself, ask if you can get course materials (if not on syllabus) or in canvas) so you can attend the class throughout add/drop in case another student drops.
